WTF? Reverse effects of Calea extract?

      Hello,
I realize this is my first post in these forums but i am not new to the concept of forum posting.

Basically, i am having a problem with Calea 10x extract.

To summarize (cause i like to keep things short)
      1) Used 1 gram in tea then smoked 3 bowl fulls (about 8-9 hits).
      2) DID NOT even feel drowsy. In fact, i felt less tired than i was before, as if it awakened me from my already tired state. And, i was awake in bed longer than i would have been without the calea.
      3) Definately did not have any dreams of any sort.

Same results and feelings before and afterwards.
I had used about .6 grams in a tea the previous night (friday) and smoked about 3 bowls the day afterwards (sunday). Even took 2 bowls on monday HOURS before i would go to sleep. Still no effects at all except the reverse effects.

I would expect not to have any dreams but to feel no drowsiness and energized is the problem. Could someone please help explain the problem.

What were you taking it for if not to have good dreams?

I personally didn't feel energised but it didn't give me good dreams. Then again, if I'd been on the Titanic I would have slept through the whole iceberg thing, so I guess that's not too surprising. Anyway, you'll find that for every person who is aided by a particular lucid aid, there is another person for whom it does nothing or has a different effect.

I was taking it to get a lucid dream which i failed 3 days continuous (probably 4). And is there any other dream herb that would work if calea didn't? or do they all target the same part of the brain and thus would not work since calea didn't.

You should try out galantamine. It works quite well.

...For you, but again, it won't work for everyone. Different things work for different people, urgetopurge; so browse through this sub-forum for heaps of suggestions.

Of course, but the success rate is fairly high with galantamine for many people.

I have read much more mixed results for calea. I personally wish there was more information out there on calea since I would be interested in trying it, but so far from what I've read I haven't found much regarding consistency of dosage or even which administration method is more likely to work.

I don't do synthetic drugs. And after reading this on wikipedia, I don't need any more persuasion to NOT do this drug:
      Code:
The FDA and other international health authorities have published an alert on galantamine based data from use on two studies during the treatment of mild cognitive impairment; higher mortality rates were seen in drug-treated patients.

Yeah, i'm thinking of trying some other African herbs next:
      Silene Capensis (African Dream Herb)
      Valerian

Ew, I didn't even know what galantamine was. I can't believe people would actually put that stuff in their bodies !

It's funny that the FDA issues warnings about that, when it insists that aspartame is safe!

For the purposes of lucid dreaming, you are taking a lower dosage than alzheimer's patients and your aren't taking multiple doses daily. Most LDers do not even experience any side effects.

Also, galantamine is natural since it is an extract from a plant.

I suspect that someone who smokes weed, a natural substance, would probably have a higher mortality rate than someone who uses galantamine twice a week.

A real substance that you probably take that you should be much more worried about is tylenol, which causes roughly 100,000 poisonings each year: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...50C0A9629C8B63

Not to mention all the people who take this everyday that may be damaging there liver.

I didn't realise it had a natural source. That makes a bit of a difference, though I'd still be weary of it. Many natural substances can still be dangerous. I don't know if marijuana smokers have a higher mortality rate, but they certainly have higher psychosis rates! I seriously wonder why people would bother with that crap, especially if they're lucid dreamers.
