Binaural beats - and lucid dreams

      Hey people!

I've been a dreamer for as long as I can remember. I love having dreams, even nightmares (because waking from them is so relieving!). I had my first fully aware lucid dream about a week ago and it was heavenly. I did some research and found out that people use Binaural theta music to induce lucid dreams. I'd like to know about other peoples experiences with these beats. I tried a binaural beat for the first time last night and it worked, however, I had a nightmare where I was running from someone and suddenly everything became pitch dark. So dark I couldn't even see my own hands. In the darkness I began to feel walls all around me and I found myself stuck in a concrete cube. I realized I was dreaming and yelled "wake up" several times and woke myself up. Do binaural beats induce nightmares? Care to share people!

What binaural beat was it? Was it from I-doser or somewhere else. I've only ever tried I-doser (I remember like forever ago when me and some friends thought that those could get us high without doing drugs, they never worked ). I-doser would give me wicked clear dreams, but I never gained lucidity.

As for whether they give nightmares, I think most of it will depend on how your thought process was going throughout the day, and what stimuli you encountered.

Was it a vivid nightmare? Or a fuzzy one?

you can always download AUDACITY from download.com for free, it's a small file so you can use it's stereo mix feature.
This feature allows you to record ANY sounds that are coming from your speakers,
so if you watch a video that has binaural beats in the audio you can record and save it,
or for anything really (like listening to a song on YouTube and recording the audio).
This is what i did to get Binaural Beats from a video on youtube, just click record on audacity before you press play so any sounds that are played will be recorded, then "export" the wav file. Once it's done exporting it should be on your desktop and you can put it on your ipod or whatever.

i'm not sure it i record stero. and if it doesn't it's no use to use it. that why you should not watch that stuff on youtube.

I don't see how youtube videos could be high enough quality to capture what makes binaural beats "work"

I'm not sure about that, but the mp3's I have are not from capturing a YouTube video. They are pretty high quality

as long as the left and right stereo sounds of the binaural beats aren't flattened and combined before they enter your ears (like on a CD for instance) the beats should "work". And you can't necessarily say that binaural beats induce nightmares because there are tons and tons of different "beats" that can achieve different results.
does anyone know of a binaural beat program for mac?

On Mac you can use SBAGen - but I have it and it's pretty crap. It's entirely terminal based so it's difficult to know what's going on. A much better option if you have a Windows machine as well is Brainwave Generator. The free version is pretty handy, but the full version which costs about $50 allows you to import presets. There are plenty of presets out there that help with LDs and oobies. The only one that has successfully worked for me is Deep Theta, but then there are still many that I haven't tried. They're interesting things, binaural beats - so much that can be done with them.
