Hi,

Im currently experimenting with something and thought I would share.

I followed the link in this sub forum to the lucid audio aids - which took me to a thread on LD4ALL which had a couple of zip files you can download. These are some Auto hypnosis aids in the zips and all so a track called "Lucid Dream Induction" - this runs for about 30 mins and has a bunch of odd echoy noises and a voice telling you that you are dreaming.

I wanted to use something to play this track at a certain time during my sleep to see if it would work. Playing anything out loud wont work as I have a wife who does not share this intrest of ours.....

I figured out that my Ipod has an alarm clock setting and you can choose the "alarm sound" - as either a standard beep OR a play list. I therefore put the Lucid Dreaming Induction track in a play list by itsself and selected it as the alarm sound.

I set the alarm for 1:30 am. You can leave the ipod off and with the hold tab "on". The ipod auto turns on and plays the track at the selected time. I also set the volume for about half way up.

I put the Ipod inside the pillow case below the pillow with the ear phones cable going behind the pillow - coming over the top with plenty of slack. By having the cable come over the top of the pillow you can sleep free without getting tangled up. I used the standard bud earphones and have found they stay in all night just fine. One night the right side fell out but the left was still in - I might invest in a headband at the week end to ensure both stay in all night.

The first night it woke me up in the middle of a dream. Second night I turned the volume down to a quarter - it still woke me up. I fell asleep again and went into another dream - which again the track woke me up from.

At least I have learned that when I go to bed at my standard working week time of 11:30 I have a consistent REM period from 1:30 or before until at least 2:00am.

I will continue to experiment with the volume. Im also hoping that with use I will get "used" to it so that it no longer wakes me but triggers awareness.

Any thoughts? Any advice? Any other good in sleep induction tracks you know of? Anyone else use timed audio aids in this way?
