Thoughts on Competition Threads Moving to Discord?

Hi all, We've all experienced DV slowing down during comps, and I wanted to float a potential solution: We still have the signup thread and dream journals here on DV as usual, but for comps we move the main thread to Discord. That way, we don't give the website the group hug of death every comp , and we also don't abandon the site. I know this place really comes to life during comps, but it also makes the site difficult to use sometimes (especially for those of us who host). I'm also aware that some people are not familiar with Discord, so if most people are OK with the move, then I can create a guide to using Discord if that is something people want. It is intimidating at first, but not too bad. It would open up some interesting opportunities too, with team specific chats, persistent images (I noticed old images disappear after awhile), easier formatting, and in general much more stable performance. Plus it'll look nicer on mobile! Not to mention we might get more people on-board using the newer platform. I'm thinking about hosting next comp, so we have some to to think about it. What do you think? Are we OK with competitions moving to Discord?

Yes, that seems like a great idea. The lag on DV can be awful, so yeah, let's do it on Discord
