First experience, but not sure if it was actually lucid.

I stumbled across this sight a couple weeks ago and finally signed up right now. Well, finally last night something actually happened in my dream.

Ok, so I was pretty tired lst night and went to sleep pretty easily. During the night I had a really strange dream where I was in a car waiting at a stop sign and there's a girl walking across and I notice she has 4 legs, kind of like an elephant. She was having a lot of trouble trying to get across the street. Then I see another one and I'm like Hey! People don't really have 4 legs, I must be dreaming. Then I felt really weird, like I was walking on air, except I felt it in my chest, and then woke up. But when I woke up I still felt like I was dreaming so I'm not sure if I was actually having a lucid dream or dreaming that I was having a lucid dream. The thought of looking at a clock never crossed my mind. I think I was actually awake but I read about people having a really good feeling and I'm not sure if that's what I felt. That's why I'm kind of doubting if I actually had a lucid dream.

Either way, I can't wait to get to sleep tonight and see if I can do it again.

Hey there, welcome to the site!

The general rule is, if you were aware that you were dreaming, then it was a lucid - congrats!! I don't think it really matter whether you were in a dream of a dream or not -- it was still a dream and you were aware of it. At least, that's my take on it.

In fact, I had a brief LD last night in one of those "second level" dreams (that's my term for them). I had been trying to fall back asleep for so long after a WBTB that when I eventually fell asleep I dreamed of trying to fall asleep. Finally I found myself lying in bed on my stomach, and could feel that I was asleep and dreaming, so I "got up" (carefully so as not to disturb myself ), and found that when I walked out of my bedroom I entered another place entirely, and was able to fly, etc. But I woke up quite soon afterward, to find myself sleeping on my back in real life -- in other words, I awoke directly from the "second level" to reality. A dream is a dream is a dream.
