Thread: HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU WERE LUCID OR HAD A OBE?

FIRST TIME POSTER AND HAVE BEEN HAVING LUCIDS FOR YEAR NOW, MAILY WILDS. IVE HAD SOME VERY AMAZING/SCARY EXPERIENCES WITH THIS TYPE OF DREAMING, AND WONDERING IF ANY OF THESE WERE OBE'S. IVE HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHEN I DID A WILD AND DREAMED I GOT UP FROM MY BED KNOWING I WAS DREAMING. DOES THIS MEAN ANYTHING? AND HOW DO PEOPLE KNOW THEY HAD AN OBE INSTEAD OF HAVING A REGULAR LD?

i often have lds where i get out of my bed and walk around my house, like.. half my wilds start in my room..

Anyway, there's one main difference between an OBE and a dream: a dream is simply in your mind, whereas an OBE is presumably in the actual world. One way to check is to do a reality check; check a watch, clock or some writing, see if it changes when you look back. If your reality check shows that it does change, you'll know it's a dream, but if it doesn't change you'll know it's an OBE.

Personally I don't beleive OBEs are real anyway.

Hahahahaha! I believe that they are just dreams! Despite the fact that I flew down to Disneyland w/some of my friends also in white robes, & it looked exactly the same when I went there, I still say that is a dream, b/c I knew I was dreaming(obvious signs of dreaming are the white robes & the unconscious duplicate in your bed ), even though Michelle said we weren't! Also, I believe that you were just as Lucid as me! I think that even though the sci-fis(what I call these types of dreams) are very well based on real time & events, they are still dreams.

A lucid dream is the abilty to become aware that you are dreaming. everyone dreams. Becoming aware of it is something else.
Now why is it so hard to believe that your conscious can not seperate from your pysical self?
Your physical body could just be a carrier for your mind, conscious, souls, I or me. What ever you would like to lable it.

You said it is balogny yet possible if you are a monk.

Why do you have to be a monk?
It could be a lucid dream. Just why would you rule ANYTHING out. To limit yourself from what we don't understand?

However I do believe in OBEs, as I have stated in many posts...however you have to be extremely talented to achieve them on purpose. Most people experience fake obes...which occur sort of like FAs, or as nesgirl would call "sci-fis"??...anyway...you can actually get out of your body during these strange lucid dreams...or so it seems. I was having them for quite awhile, trying to get out of my body sort of in that trancelike state somewhere between the vibrational state and lucid dream...but I soon realized that these were fake OBEs. However I do believe that people can have OBEs...but that they only occur in the deepest stages of sleep, where it is extremely hard to retain consciousness. That is why alot of people experience real OBEs during near death experiences. I think that is what SleepSpirit meant about the monk thing.

I have has three OBE's. prior to having one, I labled them a form of a lucid dream.
It quite possiblycould be.
To me an OBE being a "known" it is not a lucid dream.
In a lucid dream you interact between your conscious & subconscious. In OBE there a sepration of physical and physce.

I'm new at LD's. Only had 4 in the last two months. But I’ve done a lot of reading on the subjects of OBEs and LDs. If you want to think of things in a scientific way then you could think of the intangible you or I as like the magnetic waves of a permanent magnet. There are no doubt about things like magnetic waves, Radio wave and the like. But throw away or destroy the magnet and so the waves. You can destroy a radio transmitter and the waves will continue for a wile and thin or dissipate. There are other forms of intangible things around us or in us that may have different properties. But I do remember reading about people that have had OBEs and many seem to see or sense a silver cord connecting them with there bodies. That would seem to make sense to me even though I'm more interested in learning how to be lucid first. If I ever were to have an OBE I would hope to have that cord there as to return. Anyway thought I'd put my two cents in.

Certainly Lucid Dreaming can open up into the Astral and Spiritual Realms, more directly than can actual Out of Body Experiences. Typically when a person does Out of Body work, they exit the body and enter into the lowest of all Astral Planes, the one which approximately overlaps this Material Plane. If you have ever did an OBE you have perhaps noticed that the Scene which you entered, while being substantially the same as the World you know, had odd differences and strange subjective-seeming contents around and about. It was the same and not the same all at once. That is the lower astral.

Lucid Dreaming, on the otherhand, ordinarily takes one higher. But if you absolutely insist, you can use Lucid Dreaming as a doorway into the lower astral. I've done it by adopting the same position as I thought my sleeping body to be -- after becoming Lucid I would levitate upward and stretch out horizontally. I would then launch myself upward, like a rocket. When it would seem like I was breaking out of the Earth's atmosphere, entering into the darkness of Outer Space, I would actually break into the Lower Astral, just a few hundred feet over my house. From there I could kick around town in the middle of the night... see some silly demons scurrying about. Really, Lucid Dreaming in the Higher Realms is so much more interesting.

Wow. This is interesting to me. I'd like to hear more about that.

Curious as to what were some of the signs and clues when you entered into this lower astral plane that convinced you, you weren't in a typical lucid dream. Also, were you able to visualize and actualize things like in a lucid dream, or do things tend to stay fixed?

when going into WILD , (thru sleep paraylysis of course) parts of your brain are shutting down, One of these 'Parts' is the part that senses gravity.... as this part of your brain shuts down.. you lose your sense of gravity, and it seems like your floating or falling....... it has nothing to do with astral planes.

Are you familiar with his Teachings & techniques?

I believe in them, but I still think that my sci-fis are just dreams, b/c of the events that happen. Usually, they are triggered if you try to struggle during SP. Starts off like a FA, but ends up kind of like Soaring over California, except that it is usually nighttime, & time is 100% compared to my other LDs.

Does that mean
That if there were two of me that you would find it unrealistic therefore enableing you to become lucid?
Or does it mean that ..well it could mean a lot of things.

Do we have an acronym guide around here somewhere? I figured out that obes are out of body experiences, but what's an FA, and what's a sci-fi experience?

FA = False Awakening. That's where you think you have woken up (and usually gotten out of bed), only to find out that you're still dreaming.

The "sci-fi" thing is something that nesgirl made up -- you'll have to ask her about that one.

Sci-fi is short for Science Fiction. I call any dream having to do with things not having to do with this world, but maybe the universe this. Like having 2 of you, or you are flying, but cannot walk, b/c gravity has no effect on you. I don't know why people ask me, "How do you sci-fi?", considering it is just a WILD!
