      Frustrating dreams...

I had a two lucid dreams in my dream last night, but they were two seconds long and I woke up and didn't do anything. I didn't even do a RC after I woke up from them.

      Reality check?

One thing that can happen is that you become lucid only shortly before the dream ends. But in your case, I would speculate that upon realizing you were in a dream the dream destabilized and you woke up. That happens to a lot of people. As far as I know, there are some useful guides on this website regarding dream stabilization. You might want to read them.

And regarding reality checks, just do the nose pinch + breathing regularly throughout the day. It will become a habit and carry into your dreams, which means you will become lucid more often. Do it after you wake up, too.
