How often do you lucid dream?

How often do you lucid dream?

I'd like to know how many lucid dreams do Dream View Members have. I took the pool options from lucidity.com website (why reinvent the wheel? :-))

I started LDing in january and have an average of 4.66 LD/month, so 1 lucid per week.

What about you? Try also to say when did you start lucid dreaming. Something like: Lucid dreaming since january, 2005...

Well, mine last all night, so I can't have more than 1, usually!

Why is it that when i am holding all of the cards, everyone else decided to play chess?

I'm probably at two LDs per month. I was doing good about two months ago, with six in February. Then I had one in early March, and I finally broke my dryspell with a nap today so I have one for April.

I don't think it's possible to have dreams that last all night as there are many REM-periods and between them are periods of deep sleep and you only dream during REM-periods. I think every 90 minutes a new REM-period stars and the amount of REM-sleep increases when you have been sleeping more. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, I've been LDing more or less after August 2004. I think I have about 1-2 LDs a week nowadays. On a good week it can be 3-4 whereas on a bad week I don't have any. Anyway, I think I have more quantity than quality as they're usually a bit foggy and short, like 5-10 mins if lucky. Anyway, I chose 2 LDs a week from the poll as I think it's increasing.

1 per week seems about right, tho it sometimes increases to WAY more than that. And there are dry periods of course.

Well, I have been doing it for 14 years, so that might be the reason!

Look, nesgirl, it's not about having experience, but the physiology of sleep. Simply, there are different stages of sleep and you dream mostly during REM-periods. I've understood that lucid dreaming is only possible during REM.

Then, as described in the first link, your sleep isn't constant REM-period. Your brain waves go up and down and REM appears when they're up. Between these periods is periods of deep sleep where you don't have dreams. So it's physically impossible to have just one dream per night unless you wake up after the first REM-period.

The explanation to your case is propably that you only have 1 lucid dream per night, and that dream is the only one you can remember. Dreams can also happen faster than the reality and you can have a dream that lasts for 30 mins, but feels like the whole night. That's most likely why it seems like you have only 1 dream that lasts for the whole night. It's just because it's the only one you can recall.

Please, someone with more knowledge come and end this argument.

Nesgirl, my point is that you have several different dreams during the night and they always last less than 90 minutes in the time of real world.

Between those dreaming periods of sleep you don't have dreams. Anyway, the time can be different in dream world so your dream can seem to last for the whole night or even years.

Either that, or I have several dreams that I go back to. Kind of like part1...Part2.....Part3. And I also wonder why it seems that sci-fis can indeed last hours like the time I watched the sunrise from my yard!

I had one LD last night and one last month (I think), and hopefully my efforts are making them more frequent.
