Thread: Automatic safety valve?

I had an interesting experience a few nights ago, and wanted to see if this has happened to others.

In the dream, I and a few others had to stop a huge runaway train by hauling back on the brake as hard as I could. We stopped the train, but a the last few cars went half off the rails.

Cut to outside the train, where I'm standing to the left of the stopped train, standing near the top of a slope leading down into a lower area inside a giant cavern. Someone is discussing what we need to do next.

With a groan, the train begins to list toward me, threatening to fall.

And it does - right on top of me. There's no pain, just blackness. As the blackness engulfs me, I automatically perform a finger-through-palm reality check (note: I was NOT luicd at the time). The blackness ripples, like a pond after a stone has been thrown into it, and suddenly I'm in another dream (a nightmare, really). I check out and wake up.

Anyone ever done a RC in 'self-defense' in a dream, without being lucid?

I haven't done a RC in self defense but I did say "Lucky it's just a dream" one time when I was arrested by a bunch of cops in a non-lucid.

That was way before I knew anything about lucid dreaming so nothing really happened, the dream just continued as usual.
