Not sure if I was lucid dreaming?

Here's what i posted in my dream journal that i just started:

I previously dreamt of myself talking but halfway through, I couldn't speak - my voice just couldn't come out and I couldn't speak at all. When i woke up, I told myself that it was obviously a dream if i couldn't speak because that wouldn't happen out of nowhere in real life.

Today, i dreamt of something similar happening again. Except this time, i remembered what i had told myself earlier so it hit me that i was actually in a dream. I immediately knew i was in a lucid dream and being very excited (it was my first ever lucid dream, at least the 1st one i can recall) i tried to control my dream. I sang but in the dream it was gibberish, and inside i was hoping for someone i know to appear while i was singing gibberish, but before anything could happen, i woke up.

Not surprising because i know that first lucid dreams are short-lived but disappointing nonetheless.

About the singing part, i think i might have been confused in the dream. Recently, i watched The Time Traveller's Wife and in that movie, it was mentioned that this girl (a time traveller) sang to herself whenever she felt like she was going to time travel away. (so she could delay or stop time travelling)
In this case, I tried to continue singing when I felt like the dream was fading away which clearly didn't work (also it has never been stated anywhere that singing was a method to prolong your lucid dreams).

I think i woke up due to over excitement, but after i wrote this in my dream journal i started to wonder if it had actually been a lucid dream or not. Because if it were a lucid dream, why wasn't i able to control what i sang instead of just singing gibberish?

Also how do you make objects or people appear?
For example if you're trying to do a RC, and you want to look into your watch. Would the watch automatically be there or have there been instances that you're not even wearing one?

From what i have read, people simply call out the names of the people they want to appear. Is that how this works?

To answer most of your questions, of you knew you were dreaming it was lucid. As far as your singing, this falls into the category of dream control. It takes time to be able to control a lucid dream. There are many great threads in the Dream Control caragory which can help you.
