Was my subconscience trying to teach me?

About a year ago I read up on lucid dreaming and not too long after,I had my first one.I did a reality check and realised I was asleep.I knew what I wanted to do when I got lucid so I thats the first thing I did,I tried to make a fireball come out of my hands (In my sitting room). But just as I out found that it didn't work I looked up and was in a shop,it had lots of different things in it.There were two shopkeepers one of which came up to me,took a a baseball bat (which was packedged in hard plastic with a base ball at the end) off the wall and handed it to me and said to go test it out (I don't play baseball at all so I don't know why I did).We went outside and he told me to use my mind and concentrate to take off the plastic,so I closed my eyes and did what he said and surely enough it worked, when I opened my eyes the plastic was gone and I then I woke up.
Has anyone had an experience similar to this?

Green_Quail, it's possible that the shopkeeper was your Dream Guide trying to educate you on how things work while lucid.. basically to make things happen, you need to use your mind and concentrate! Pretty good advice!

Hey and welcome to Dream Views!!!!

I think that our subconscious is always trying to teach us things through our dreams. The only time I have ever had a DC (dream character) try to teach me something I quickly made the assumption that this was my dream guide. However, I have not seen him since. I actually think that perhaps our subconscious can manifest itself in many different ways other than just one person as a Dream Guide and teach us things we need to know. I think it's pretty cool that your own mind (subconsciously) knew that it could take off the plastic and taught you this.

Also...what is it with all the fireballs??? Is this like a younger generation thing that has come from video games or something? Everyone talks about making psi balls or fire balls...this has never ONCE occured to me in a lucid. Seriously, is it like some game thing?

Good! You've met your Patron. The lucky ones among us know of a Dream Archetype who can be referred to as "The Wise Old Man" who acts as our Spiritual Guide. The rest of the Dream sinks into virtual insignificance compared to the fact that you now KNOW you have the Active Patronage of the Spiritual Realms. You'd have to be very stupid and self-willed -- intentionally acting outside of His advice -- to screw things up for yourself now.

But since the baseball and bat were there, this is what they were. Your peeling off their coverings was your initiation beyond first appearances. You have pierced the Veil. Now you have the Ball and Bat uncovered. These are the Spiritual Causes and Effects with which you will have to become acquainted. Because they are the implements of a game, you can see this as an elementary beginning. You should expect to have a series of Dreams along this same theme and motif. We should also remember that Baseball is a Team Sport. This would suggest some engagement with some other players. You were not given a glove, which suggests you are an active, and not a passive personality.

Anyway, off to the batting cages and practice up. Oh... quite literally... you could go far in acknowledging this Dream to your Higher Self if you would take a few dollars worth of quarters to some local amusement part and rent a batting cage and fan some 45mph pitches as they go by.
