An LD cocktail - did the trick!

Well, I don't know if you could call it a "dryspell" since I never did have consistent LDs, but I can finally count last night's LD a true LD (as opposed to some of those short "hiccup" LDs I had).

What did it? Well, if there was one true answer for that there would probably be no need for most of this site - however, I picked up a little tidbit of info from this post and checked up valerian. It seemed safe enough so I included it with a couple other vitamins I was trying (my little LD cocktail) and VOILA! A successful LD!! Wooo hoo!

      \"That's great kid, now don't get cocky!\" ---Han Solo[/b]
Sure, I'll have to try it a few more times to see if it really did the trick. But I know sometimes just having confidence is key and trying a new thing gives us that "edge". But I don't remember really being that confident when I went to bed. It was more of a, "Well, if I don't LD at least I should get some good recall, or even just a good night's sleep"

As for the dream itself: it was great, but not the best of them. All I really did was fly around in this MC Escher type structure. Remembered to do the hands RC (that was freaky!) and did the hold the nose one (didn't seem to work, though. Couldn't exhale and felt my ears pop). Woke up right when I was about to get some (can't even get laid in my own dreams lately!!) The non-lucid portion was much more interesting.

      Last night's cocktail recipe:
      100 mg B-6
      250 mg Magnesium
      400 mg Valerian

Please feel free to share any of your favorite cocktail recipes you may have!

That's quite interesting. I've read other posts describeing similar techniques, camomile being another natural relaxer that has been used. I think there might be something there. I'm gunna have to try that! Thanks.

Sounds interesting I heard St.Joh's Wort helps in remembering dreams. It’s starting to pull me out of a dry spell. Try adding that. You might have to get it at a health food store although some drug stores may have it. Keep us updated on how you do.

I'm experimenting with herb teas. It seems to be more popular in other countries and there uses are many. I'm waiting for some to arrive in the mail. Today I received a shipment of one called Gotu Kola. I used to take it years ago and it has a calming affect. The elephants in Africa are said to eat it and it helps their memory. You've heard an Elephant never forgets. It is also clamed that the Elephants know when they are going to die and walk to a location were they lie down and die. What is the benefit of that? I'm not sure but they seem to have a universal memory of a kind that tells them were to go. I didn't make that story up. Really. I'll beet you to the punch line. If I know were to go and die you just won’t hear from me anymore lol

Thanks for the reference to my post maybe we can go into business selling "Lucid dream Inducing Cocktails", claiming CILD (Cocktail induced Lucid dream).

But seriously, I am as interested in these cocktails and their effects as you are, so if you get any progress on different herbs, etc. please drop me a PM.

Thanks, and im glad it helped so much!

      Ok, just an update:

tried the cocktail three nights in a row

1st night = vivid dreams, heavy dream recall + one LD
2nd night= vivid dreams, heavy dream recall - no LD (but should have - didn't do RCs)
3rd night= seemed to have no dreams at first, then suddenly recalling vivid dream which included elements of personal things that I've wanted to accomplish in an LD (which means my mind must have been thinking about becoming lucid, I just didn't follow through with the reality check!!)

I think the opportunities are being served up to me - just need to execute!

Next, I will lay off the mix (probably for a couple days) and see if there are any changes.

      tea

I take a B complex. It’s important to get all your B vitamins. The Gotu-Kola Tea and St.- John’s-Wort seem to be helping me with dream recall. I had many dreams and only managed to record a few because I was so lazy and tired and did not feel like reaching for the recorder. I put that in my memo that I need to fasten the recorder to my forehead or something so as to remind me to record sooner. This was just the first night with the tea. Will keep you posted.

Apparently the effects of B6 on dreams wears off when it is used more regularly. Try and keep the tests far enough between so you don't notice a "dip" in the effect.

I just made up a gallon of tea today and am ready to go. If you guy don't mind I'll lay off the B vitamins for a whole week to give our experiment a little contrast. No B just tea. And after a few days I'll switch to some B vitamins and report back. If that’s ok with the boss (head of sales department) of this experiment. I just got the book today from Sephen LaBerge (exploring the world of Lucid Dreaming)and I have nothing else pressing at this time. So we can experiment together or apart. Makes no difference to me. I’m going to drink my tea. I’ve had this strange desire for a peanut. Just kidding. If you read earlier post you’d get it.

Oh, a note on why perhaps drugs, or anything else you ingest, may help in lucid dreaming -- it may be that poisonous or toxic substances, in killing you a little bit, release a great deal of psychic energy, sort of inducing a kind of 'mini- near death experience'. This is why herbs like valeriurm and bella donna which are in fact lethal in sufficient dosages, seem to help in lucid dreaming or in astral projection -- the Spirit wants to flee from a poisoned body, and the slowly dying body is releasing sufficient Life Energy to intensify the experience.

But one need not need necessarily to take actual poisons to fascilitate Lucid Dreaming, as you could simply starve yourself -- what the Spiritual and Religious People call 'fasting'. Fasting has always been the preferred way of dying just enough to engender strong Religious and Spiritual Experiences, mostly, I suspect, because it is the cheapest and most readily implementable way of killing oneself just enough. Drugs cost money and they need to be procured, but it costs nothing to simply skip about 14 or 15 meals. Also, where toxic poisons may leave lasting damage in the body -- and a damaged body will have problems ever re-charging up the energy which had once been spent and enjoyed in whatever Spectacular Vision, Dream or Astral Adventure, but a starved body once fed again can of course be completely recharged. In fact, the body gets used to it. If you notice about people who have chronically put themselves on weight loss diets -- a form of starvation -- their bodies become adapt at recovering, and their metabolisms become acutely efficient, and Dieters will be able to put more caloric intake to fat storage than people who had never restricted their diets at all. So we have people who are ever thin and yet eat like pigs, because their metabolisms are heedless and lazy and quite take more than sufficient food for granted -- passing most calories directly through the system; and then we have people who have dieted or fasted who will put on weight if they eat more than about 40% of what the dietery experts say is 'normal'.

I was under the impression that fasting was meant to deprive the soul of worldly pleasures and thereby making a way in ones life for a stronger spiritual life. Where, if you don't mind me asking, would I find information reflecting the perspectives you point out on fasting if you please?

Ok, I wasn't going to "check in" here so quickly, but I was already signed in and figured, what the hell:

4th night (no cocktail), vivid dream + LD -- however, LD seemed kind of weak (if you can imagine such a thing)

I remember thinking that I was dreaming, trying to fly, and being able to levitate off the ground (which confirmed my "dream") however, I can't recall doing anything extrodinary after that. It's as if I had a lucid dream but didn't really care - that can't be right. Could I have been "half lucid"? Is there such a thing? Or did the lack of mix prevent me from remembering the "good parts" of my dream?

F**ck it, if I go lucid tonight I'm taking full advantage!!! (even though I'm buzzing a bit from all the wine I had tonight!)

As for what Leo Volont is talking about - I have no clue. I kind of see what he's implying, but I don't think valarian is "killing" me in any way. But whatever, everyone has their own views on things.

It's an original thought. You see, you can believe the surface propaganda, the cover stories, and all of the public relations spin stuff, OR you can look at some of this stuff in terms of its functioning dynamics. To me it just seemed too coincidental that so many mystics had been intensive fasters. When nothing else 'religious' ever seems to work... to get God's Ear... then why is 'fasting' always so successful? I figured that Fasting must have some material utility... that Fasting was pushing actual material buttons. Then it becomes obvious! Fasting brings on all of the symptoms of starvation, malnutition, Vitamin B deficiency as well as knocking the knees out from under the sex drive. The key to Ascetic Success is Fasting. The Visions of Heaven are the Manic phase; the visions of demons and Hell are the depressive paranoic phase of the Insanity triggered by the severe Vitamin B deficiencies brought on by Fasting. Even the Supreme Realizations of Nirvana and Sahmadhi are not much more than Near Death Experiences of a body on the verge of expiring from starvation.

We can see the correlation almost statistically. Just think about it... when was Vatican II -- the Council of Catholic Bishops that decided to Modernize the Catnolic Church which told all the Nuns to no longer wear those cute sexy habits -- giving up their Identity and now they wonder why young woman no longer wish to become Nuns; and de-emphasized the importance of all actual practices of Penance and Atonement, INCLUDING FASTING. Almost overnight you stopped hearing about Monastic Mysticism and squirreled away Saints here and there in the Catholic Church. The Religious Orders are simply too well fed and healthy anymore.

I had two dreams and in both I was only half Lucid. Still drinking my tea.
In the one an old friend had lost his legs in an operation of some kind. When I realized I was dreaming I wanted his legs to come back and they did. But as I was trying to get his wife to see it was a dream his legs started to disappear again. I feel that if I was totally lucid that it would not matter if his wife was aware or not and that, that would have been enough for him to keep his legs. ?

It's wierd, but I've found that drinking helps me have lucid dreams. If I get drunk, then sleep for six hours or so and wake up, no longer being drunk, and go back to sleep, then I almost always have a lucid dream.

I think this has something to do with how you sleep when you are intoxicated. I read somewhere that sleeping with alchohol in the system effects your REM cycle. So, you probalby are depriving yourself from that cycle, then, when you go back to sleep "sober", your mind has to make up for the previous time lost in REM.

Not exactly the kind of cocktail I would recommend for lucid dreams (a bit harsh on the liver!).
