Well that was odd, my first true lucid dream I guess....
Duration of attempt: ~2 hours
The Preperation/Background
I was particularly tired tonight, combination of getting up early the previous morning and some pain killers I'd taken (for a headache) which contained codeine. I set a glass of water and bottle of B6 vitamins next to my bed. My plan was to take one (50mg) if I woke up in the middle of the night, hoping to aid my WILD attempt.
The Attempt
I woke up naturally at about 2 am. I checked the clock a few times which I've gotten in to the habit of doing...it didn't change. Took 50mg of vitamin b6 as planned, then lay back down to try WILD. After about 15 minutes of relaxing and counting, I did lose feeling in my body and felt a bit detached/different ( same feeling that I experienced in this attempt http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic....3929&highlight= ) but, also like my first attempt, this feeling soon faded and I figured that's as far as I would get tonight. I checked the clock again to confirm that I was indeed still in reality.
I rolled over on to my right side (my preferred sleeping position) and tried to go to sleep, not worrying about trying to get lucid. After what seemed like a few minutes I felt a vibrating throughout my body, and I started to *tear* away from my physical body. This feeling was so intense I screamed under the pressure of it, but at the same time I was excited that something was happening. After a moment I was "out" of my body and sitting upright on my bed, admittedly quite confused. I looked at the clock to do a reality check, but it was off, I went to switch on my lamp, it didn't work. I thought "damn...a power outage...what bad timing...especially when I'm trying to see if this is a dream". I still had a feeling it was a dream because of the "body seperation" sensation I'd experienced. I got out of bed, looked around the room, everything looked normal. My first thought was to visit my friend who is also in to lucid dreaming/OBEs. I tried to fly to his house, but it just didn't work. I decided it musn't be a dream.
I checked my clock one last time before going back to bed...it was back on....5:45....looked again.....5:02?! looked again...it was off....looked again....5:32....this had to be a dream...now I knew. I tried to count my fingers but they kept swapping lengths, sometimes the 2 shortest fingers were somewhere in the middle of my hand, and they were just stubs. "Awesome!" was my reaction I looked out the window, it was daylight so I went and grabbed my keys and wallet and started heading for the door to go for a walk. When I got to the door of my room I sudddenly thought "wait a second...this is silly....everything is so real this can't be a dream...I'd better get back to bed before someone sees me going for a walk outside in the middle of the night." As I was about to go back to bed, my dad walked past my door, embarassed, I tried to hide my keys but he saw them and asked what I was doing. I had a brief conversation with him but don't remember it.
Feeling like a bit of a fool I went and got back in bed. Suddenly I woke up. It didn't take long for me to realise what had just happened...I checked the clock to confirm that I was back in reality, about 2 hours had passed. I looked out my window, pitch black outside, I had to laugh at myself for having a lucid dream then convincing myself that it wasn't!
NB: Excuse the overuse of the word "I" at the beginning of sentences in this report, it's still 4.30am and I can't think of a better way to express all of this at the moment
Lessons Learnt
- Don't let your subconcious fool you! Believe the dreamsigns...
- 50mg of B6 on waking/before more sleep seems to aid in lucid dreams but I'll need to try this more than once to confirm.
