      First LD Experience calm downs

I had my first LD since joining this site, using methods. I used to go in SP and have a few semi-lucid dreams but thats all I can do. In this dream I was in a very dark, stony, rocky, jagged island with black clouds. I saved a few people from the water and they were pretty beat up. I was semi-lucid cause I think I knew it was a dream but I couldn't control anything and didn't think to.

Then I went up to the top of the island, went around a side of a rock and entered into a darkly lit office, like at night (it looked like the show The Office but only the front part of it.) Then I became lucid, got a little excited ( like when you see a fight, that little burst of adrenaline) but I calmed it down and looked at my hands an rubbed them together to make it more vivid. I looked up and it was, then I got that burst again and the dream started to collapse. I rubbed my hands again but the dream collapsed and I lost consciousness.

This is a semi-lucid because I thought to rub my hands but didn't quite comprehend it was a dream or to do a RC. I just knew to rub my hands to make it clear.

So, how do I stop that burst of excitement? And how do I become fully lucid?

First of all, I think you already did a really good job!

I usually try and keep that burst of excitement low by telling myself "Ok, so you're lucid now. That doesn't mean you have to waste your time by just standing here and being amazed. So hurry up, do something!" Actually doing something instead of standing still and getting excited over being in a lucid dream helps me a lot. On the one hand, it distracts you from my excitement, and on the other, it makes my dream more memorable than it would have been if I had done nothing and had just been excited.

Rubbing your hands is really useful, though. Maybe you find more help in this thread about stabilizing and clarifying. Personally, I think licking things is very helpful and quite funny
