Thumbs up Got lucid after loosing motivation

      Finally!
After 2 months of trying and then 1 month of giving up because of the lack of motivation, I finally got a lucid dream. I will not lay out all the details, because that will get boring, but this is how it went:

Had a non-lucid dream where I tried to save my boyfriend from the end of the world. We sat near a window on the 8'th floor of a building and I suddenly did a RC. When i could breath through my closed nose, I realized I was dreaming. I stopped myself from being too excited and did another RC. "6 fingers? Thats good enough!" Then I went to the window and closed my eyes and thinked hard about the fact that I wanted it to be Pandora outside. I opend my eyes and I was Pandora! I jumped out and ran around as a na'vi and tried to study my surroundings.

The dream was much longer, but nothing really exciting happened. I did not have 100% controll of things and at times I lost some of my lucidity.
I was a bit dissapointed because my surroundings was not so incredible beautiful, and sometimes when I looked around me some places would just be blank.

But... I did it! Theese things I mentioned, I probably can work on and the best thing is, that I've now got my motivation back!

One more thing: I am pretty proud of myself for a few things:
1: I managed to keep calm when I realized I was dreaming. (Almost scary how calm I was)
2: At several occations I could close my eyes and change my surroundings whithout waking up.
3: The dream was very long.

If I'm not totally wrong, this is things that newbies usually struggle with?

Yup, that's the way it works sometimes. Stressing over trying to become lucid is pretty counteractive. Sometimes all you need to do is relax and trust your subconscious and desire to dream.

Edit: And yes, those are common issues for a lot of beginners. Seems like this break has put you well on your way.

Dream control isn't so hard that you can't do it in your first lucids. I did and plenty of other people do.

But as he said i'm sure you'll be awesome. Just relax, take it easy yeah?

You closed your eyes? Ok, well fair enough that it worked, but normal procedure for changing things is to spin around on the spot. It boosts your lucidity and keeps you in the dream, but also it eliminates you needing to close your eyes, as doing that and laying down both are supposed to end lucid dreams.

But hey, who cares when you did it? Sounds like you got a good one as well. That moment where you just think "Oh yeah, R.C. time." are just great aren't they?

I would vote that you work on your surrounding manipulation- fill in those blanks. You are already stable enough it seems.

I didn't struggle with any of these things either- but maybe it's cause we're aware that we should be freaking out and what precautions we should take to stay in the dream. I agree with the others, sometimes the best thing to get lucid is to not try.
      Anyway- congratulations on your lucid!

The only thing I could remeber in the dream was to close my eyes. The spinning technique was totally forgotten. :p I will be shure to try that next time.

Thank you for all your replies.
