      C'mon you F@#!*n dream characters!

Ok, so I should be happy that I've finally had another LD (last Saturday). As many cool things one can do in an LD and as crazy as one can get, I have only one simple goal at this point - to summon a dream character.

I became lucid shortly after spotting my (up untill recently) elusive dream sign - a tornado. Once I passed the flying test, I right away took off and started looking for this character I've created in waking life that I will eventually like to make into a dream sign of some sort. Anyway, I flew through clouds and called out for him. Still, I felt I had no control whatsoever! I was alone. He never appeared.

This is the second time I've been fortunate enough to be in a lucid dream and still be unsuccesful at summoning dream characters! I hate to give up, but I feel like I'm wasting my few and prescious lucid dreams standing around calling characters that never appear.

Anyone know if there's any trick to getting such control in LDs?

They will not come when I call them either. I have to go looking for them. Maybe that will work for you?

What works for me is just going where i know they usually are, like if i know where they live, i just tell myself that they are at their house and i'll find them there, usually It works.

I think LD works somewhat like hypnosis. You can't force you brain to feel something just by verbal commands. Instead Hypnotists will try to get you to experience the sensation itself by using metaphors. Like for eg., instead of saying "your hand will feel numb" they will instead recreate an experience which would result in your hand feeling numb like making you imagine that you put on a a very tight glove or that you imerse your hand in ice cold water.

Maybe in your LD you have to put that character in a context first. Try imagining him in a situation or context first, then place yourself in that same context in the dream and maybe he'll be there.

      Just a wild theory though.

Well, the character is a pilot, so while I was flying I searched the clouds and even tried listening for the prop engine.

It sounds like I need to think up some more detailed information about the character so it will carry into my dream.
