Does this happen in all your dreams that you wake up from or just lucid? I have not experienced this but it sounds interesting. I think it would scare my pants off it it happened though! At least you have a method that works for you... or do you not like it?

I've had dreams where the Horizon was full of nuclear explosions. Recently I had a dream in which a Nuclear Warhead went off fairly close by. The Light was one thing, but I was worried about the shock wave, but luckily I was far enough away so the physical damage that rolled by was not fatal, but then again, nothing is fatal in a Dream.

What you need to do is 'live' through one of these Explosions. You need to learn that nothing can kill a Dream Self. Your waking up is like a symbolic death... a surrender to fear... or at least a surrender to the concept of Mortality. You're dream self has to learn by repeated experience that it has nothing to fear. You need to stay Dreaming after the Bomb goes off.

One dream I had once the world got blown up by aliens and I had the same nuclear bomb experience. A huge wall of fire came towards me and hit me and burned me alive in the dream. I woke up with a burning and tingling sensation. Scared the pants off me.

      nuclear bombs - non lucid

I used to have dreams about seeing nuclear bombs explode, but none of them were lucid at all. I always thought they were just brought on by paranoid during the 80's nuclear arms talk. I used to have them alot more frequently when iw as alot younger. now they just occure once in a while. when i see them go off, i then see the wall of fire comming tords me. All i sense is the warm air hitting me. i feel no shockwave or burning sensation.

i once had this dream (non-lucid) where a guy with a nuclear bomb strapped on his body stood there, just stood there...
so me, my classmates and some teacher (who is also my neighbour, and WAS my teacher in real life) must escape in a video game-like seting with a timer on top of the "screen"...
we always escaped the blue purple explosion: we did it! and we did it again! and again! for 3 times

dino, whether or not you believe in past-lives I don't know, but this bomb experience could be linked to one.

Well I haven't had a real lucid yet (real being one that lasts for more than a few seconds and is well remembered,) but I have, on occasion, dreamt of nuclear and other V.L.E. (very large explosions.) My dream self tends to get very logical during such events, trying to plan how to escape or survive, so the dreams tend to get very technical about the effects. I am not usually afraid (much), and usually end up hiding behind something big or running from the blast wave, which usually results in some adrenaline pumping escape experiances. I guess the whole trick is to not let the instinctive "big explosion=imminent death" reaction take hold. Man, when I am able to lucid dream, I'm going to try and light off a few big booms in the sky just for the coolness factor!

I have never had one of these that I can remember but I wouldn't mind having one.
