      Dream characters panicking upon Lucid?

Just thought i'd tell you all about my experience the other day and see what you think.

Well, i was in this large elegant room full of rich people in tuxedo's etc. and I mean there was a LOT. it looked like 30 people. anyway once i entered the room, i became lucid. As soon as i declared it was a dream(which i said aloud), all the dream characters started panicking, running, and screaming. And somehow the room had expanded even larger so there was room for 30 people to run around. Anyway it kinda wtf'd me and so i froze them all(completely stopped their molecules moving), but once i started to call on my dream guide, they were unfrozen and still kept panicking. Also after my "dream guide" came, somehow everyone in the room had disappeared.

So anyone got a clue as to why all these people panicked? maybe they thought i was going to hurt them or something with my lucid powers? any suggestions are welcomed.

well, maybe you subconciously feel that your ability to lucid dream is something very very special (like super powers) and that people in the real world would see it as something bad.

      Hey! That was Sooooo Cooolll!!!

Afterall, you are kind of like a God to your Dream Characters, right? Hold the power of life or death over them.

I don't have a clue why they would have panic'd. I assume this is the first time something like that has happened to you?

I had the same sort of thing happen to me about three lucid dreams ago.

I walked up to a character and asked her what it was like to be in a dream. She got this strange look on her face - almost like a disgusted, frightened combination of features.

I was too creeped out to hear her answer.

Luckily the rest of the dream turned out fine.

By the way, what does your dream-guide look like? I've been meaning to conjure mine up but always seem to get distracted by the more immediate things to do in my dreams; such as flying or moving objects with my mind.

Cower before me mortals! For I am all powerful

*ahem* so yeah..you are correct seeker, it was the first time it happened, but i have had trouble with dream characters before. I was even forced to kill some last time because they were harrassing me.

Interesting Acid. seems like dream characters have this negative reaction towards our awareness perhaps?

what mine looks like. Well let me tell you. I conjured up my dream guide 4 times and each time it was somebody different. the first time it was a beuatiful egyptian women, the second time it was another women but wore weird clothes(sorta like the future maybe?), the third time it was some alien version of women(she by no means looked human, her nose was abnormal, she had extreme case of rosacia, odd eyes), and then the fourth time it was some guy(i cant remember what he looked like) and this guy reminded me of martin lawrence A LOT.

But i've given up on my dream guide. I have no way of knowing if its really my dream guide or just a dream character pretending to be one. And i feel like this is a waste of my time. I might explore my subconciousness later when i get lucid dreams more often, but right now, i want to explore other parts of the dreamworld. Ev has suggested for me to just summon an avatar of my subconcious to communicate with, but i wont be testing this out for a while.

      Very interesting.

I like the idea of summoning my subconscious but, from what you've explained, it seems like dream guides are a waste of time. Not to go off-topic, but have you ever asked them anything interesting? Do they talk much? I'm quite curious.

Correct. They COULD be a waste a time and thats why im stopping my research on this for now. If you want to go a little deeper about my experience about the dream guide, then just go here http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic....p?p=85645#85645

Its the one with the long post...
as for them talking much, not really. most of the time they only answered when spoken to by me, but there were exceptions. Although i didn't really spend a lot of time with them because either they disappeared without my consent or the dream ended, so not sure on that one

      My dream characters

Mine is much different... When I first I realize im in a dream, everything keeps going on around me, kinda like I become invisible, but no one notices. However, since I am in control of my dream, I can make people act like however I want (isn't that the true defenition of controling a dream?). Usually when I become fully aware and fully in control, my dream becomes like the holodeck from startrek and I can basically do anything I want. Its a nice feeling and very liberating.. you can do so many things that you cant do in real life, and its your choice.

I think that measn when you actually wake up, your DC's wont exist anymore because you're not dreaming anymore.

Do some of u guys actually think that the DC's are "alive"? Cuz u say things like "maybe they were afraid of ur powers" etc. The DC's are only creations by ur mind and so they get scared for a reason.. probably cuz u expected them to act crazy when u got lucid or something, I don't know..

It just ounds a little weird when u talk about them like real people.. of course they can seem very real.. but they don't think dor themselves, you thnk for them, they are in ur mind, and therefore you can control them.

But it's still interesting though, cuz u can always speculate in WHY they did get crazy.. maybe u got a little exited, and in my dreams, when I get too exited, strange things can start to happen without me actually wanting it..

I think our subconcious thoughts about our DC can cause them to act like real people in some ways. So they can have emotions that we put there subconsiously. I think of my DC as part of me an they're as real as anything else.

Gameover, yes, don't get me wrong, that's exactly what I meant too. Yes, they can be as real as real people, but they are still just your imagination and it feels a little strange to discuss stuff like "did they get scared cuz of my powers?" instead of "did I expect them to get afraid once I became lucid?".
I hope you know what I mean..

I understand what you're saying. It's jsut a different way to look at it. Since dreams are very real to many people they talk about dream characters like that because thats how they feel about em. Of ocurse that doesnt mean they believe that thy are outside entities. Just different way of saying it though I think we're on the same page.

read The Art of Dreaming by Carlos Castaneda . Cheers
It cover Dream guides albeit from the inorganic realm and why one should not attract the attention of the apparitions/ people in our dreams .Remember at an initial stage we must keep moving our dreaming attention and thereby strengthen it , do not get attracted by strange behaviour , often its just reconstruction which will make it even more convoluted , keep it simple till you're strong

Hey guys, when going through some older threads try not to 'necropost'. This thread was made back in 2004 and has served it's purpose. If you have questions about a topic just make a new thread. Cheers
