Finally had what I think was my first lucid!

So basically, I woke up this morning before my alarm and could not remember any of my dreams really so I got up and shut my bedroom door which was open for some reason and went back to bed while repeating "The next time I am dreaming, I will recognise that I am dreaming" as I normally do when attempting to have a lucid. It didn't take me long to fall asleep and I had a strange dream which I will not go into detail about as it is not the dream that I became lucid in. The dream that I was having turned into one of me sat in my form room at school with my schoolmates and the head of the year group was in my form and interviewing students about their performance in school for whatever reason. The people that were in my form in the dream were not the same as the people who are in my form in reality so I started to question why they were in my form rather than in their own. This thinking process made me remember while I was dreaming that it is the Easter holidays so I shouldn't be at school which led me to do a reality check with my hands. I had 8 fingers on one my left hand and 7 on my right which made me come to the realisation that I was dreaming. My year manager then called me over to interview me so I walked over to her and decided to hear what she had to say. She told me my overall grade and asked me how I thought I could improve it. I wasn't truly listening to her as I was looking around for more dream signs because this might have been my first lucid which I was able to recall and I wanted to know as much as possible about my dreams before I woke up. I had the urge to jump and try to fly and try all the things that I had read about but something inside me felt embarrassed to try even though this was my own dream with my own dream characters so I simply chose to observe instead. What seemed like only a short while after I became lucid, my alarm went off and I woke up with a massive grin on my face because I knew that I had just taken a big step in the right direction.

I know this is a very boring lucid dream but I am actually quite proud because this is the first big step toward becoming lucid freely and being able to control my dreams and I'm quite excited by the possibilities of lucid dreaming ^.^
Thanks for reading, I just needed to share this with somebody

This is awesome! Congratulations! How long have you been trying to LD before this first one? Its great that you were able to realize you were lucid and not get too excited and wake yourself up too quickly.

      Thanks ^.^
I guess I've been trying kind of since December. When I found out what Lucid Dreaming was, I decided to try and find a forum for it and I found this place and I joined pretty much the same week xD
