      I think I was lucid!

I think I was lucid this morning! I had woken up and kept trying to fall asleep for about an hour. I did a mild form of MILD, so it was like a WBTB with MILD like tygrhawk once reccomended. Then I was reading a post by a friend on this forum, and i think the dream faded and everything was black so I decided to spin around. I realized I was lucid, and when the spinning was fast i kept think about a beach, I landed at one. I was swimming, and I decided to try and open my eyes, but they were heavy. I was able to open and saw a part of my closet door, which was spinning. I got scared and shut my eyes tight, and spun again. I would up in an office and I imagined Mr. Feeny. I asked him what book I sould write that would make me famous. He handed me a history book about women in the Ottoman empire. I was mad, because I didn't want to learn history.
More stuff happened, and I forgot. I woke up and remember the lucid dream and some other dreams I had.
The only thing is I now doubt that I had the lucid dream. What if I was dreaming about being lucid? I never did a reality check, but I did have dream control, like with the beach and Feeny.

That sounds like a lucid dream to me, even if it was a low level of lucidity. Congratulations!

Only you can tell whether you was lucid or not. The real question is: Did I really know that I was dreaming? If you did, you was lucid.

I think I agree with TygrHawk. It does sound like a lucid to me, because you told realizing that you was lucid.
Don't think about those damn kangaroos.

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but isn't being lucid and dreaming about being lucid effectively the same thing? I mean, if you're lucid, then you must be dreaming, which means that in effect, you must be dreaming that you're lucid.

I'm pretty sure that you had a lucid dream. I've had a couple of lucid dreams recently where I didn't do a reality check in order to become lucid. I'm not sure how it happened, I just seemed to become "aware".

      Dear Indianinks,

By now you have probably concluded for yourself that you need some kind of plan for the next time you go Lucid. You did have a Lucid Dream, but you sort of threw away the opportunity by going directly back into an ordinary dream... after all that spinning. what was it with all that spinning.

On my first Lucid Dream, I had the presence of mind to just stand there. I was on top of a mountain. And I simply looked around. At the beautiful scenery, and at my feet, and drank in that the Dream Scape, for being in a dream, still looked so real.

But after awhile one needs to plan these events. A Lucid Dream Checklist.

The first several elements of a Lucid Dream Checklist don't really need to vary. The first thing to remember is to simply STOP. Stop and appreciate being Lucid for a moment. Stop the present dream action, at least long enough to decide whether one wishes to continue, or perhaps choose to fly out to a higher dream level.

The next step is to FOCUS in Lucidity enough to fix it somewhat. Here is the point at which one can begin whatever technique one has to intensify Lucidity. I find that picking up the rate of breathing and to breath slightly more deeply is all it takes.

From that point a lucid dream Checklist will change depending upon whatever one's current ambitions are.

That's interesting, because most of the times that I have simply become Lucid without effort have been during some kind of horrific nightmare (And believe me - my nightmares are quite bad as far as they go...) and so the idea to 'stop' never occurred to me, even once I realised I was dreaming. I just found the quickest way out.

Admittedly, I have probably ruined a good few dreams that way....

Congrats on the LD, indianinks, by the by. =)[/i]

Oh! Well, most of the times that I go Lucid, the situations aren't quite as urgent as you describe. Ordinary dreams and ordinary dream scenes, in which when one goes Lucid, it is easy enough to excuse oneself from present company and exit the room and commence with the Dream Checklist. But I do wonder if I could stick to my own resolve if I were being chased by some speedy monster at the point of becoming lucid.

      Thanks everyone!
I tried to lucid again last night with the same method, but of course with all the lucidity on my mind I couldn't. I will probably take a break from thinking about it before trying again, that's what happened last time.
Leo Volont you said that spinnig messes things up. The thing is that the dream had just ended, and everything was black, so I decided to just spin. But if I ever do become aware in a dream, than I definately take your advice to just stop.
And I seem to be like MartinB, I just become aware.
      Again, thanks!
