An interesting thing I did in my last LD

Well, I'll skip the non-lucid crap since all of my lucid dreams usually start from another dream out of the blue. Okay so I was in a kart like thing on what seemed like a train track and then I got out becuase I remembered something I wanted to do in a LD that regarded my subconcious brain. I walked up to a wall and said (word for word) "What is my biggest fear?" Water started gushing out of the wall and I said "On second thought, just show me." Meaning I didn't want to experience the actual fear. Anyways, it shows deep dark water and a shark mouth wide open, think of Jaws. And then I said "What? That's stupid." And continued on with my dream. And then it turned into a bunch of random events where I had a lot less lucidity.

so you asked what your biggest fear is, and your dream showed you something that is not your biggest fear....interesting.

Or maybe you didn't understand what your dream was telling you?
      Yeah.

yea, i was thinking that too. Maybe try it again and see if the same thing happens, look for variations and if it's the same, do some thinking on different interpretations. I can't imagine what they would be, but who knows you better than yourself?

That is very cool! Try asking that same question again when you are lucid next. I would be very interested to hear about what happens.

      Keep us posted!!!

Dark, murky water is my biggest fear. I've had many dreams where I've been under water and have not been able to see anything because it's so dark. I think it's the vulnerable feeling about being in the water that I find so frightening. It's hard to see anything in the darkness and, like in your vision, you don't really see anything until it's right in your face about to take a bite out of you. And the fact that people are rather slow and sluggish under water as opposed to a shark which can swim quickly and easily really frightens me.

I love every activity involving water, but often suffer from anxiety in the middle of a very enjoyable time. This is when I am in natural bodies of water. One of my biggest fears is that my ankles will be wrapped with seaweed and I will drown. I also sometimes get the feeling that there is something in the water and it will drag me down, eat me, tear me to shreds, drown me, etc. I think it's just the aspect of not being able to see what's underwater, and knowing that you are in a large body of open water that really scares me. It's really quite annoying because I love to swim, waterski, jetski, dive, clff jump, etc, etc, and this anxiety often ruins a very good mood.

Or perhaps your mind is not yet ready to show you your biggest fear, I agree with Alaura, try again!

I thought what he meant was that he overcame his biggest fear by telling himself that it was stupid. Now that is a good idea! haha

You could just tell yourself with complete sincerity that you are not afraid of it anymore. I wonder?

You might have to interpret the image less literally, maybe your biggest fear is being taken to a place or situation you can't control, like the shark dragging you underwater. But I think it's more likely that your mind wasn't ready for the question, and just showed you something that's scary, not the scariest. Asking again while your mind has had time to process the request might yield different results. (that's a really manual-like sentence)

When I manage to become lucid (confidence is everything), I'll ask the same question. I wonder if my subconscious agrees with me about my biggest fear (which is losing my intellect/sanity).

Maybe the shark opened its mouth to tell you the answer to the question.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

Sorry for not responding sooner (I lost the website). Well I've only become lucid once more since this happened and it was right before I woke up so I wasn't able to do anything. Next time for sure though. some of your theories are very interesting.
