      Looking into A mirror

I'd like to find out what other people see when they look into a mirror. I was "floating" down a hallway and passed by a mirror, quickly realizing that it would pose a wonderful opportunity to see what I looked like.

As I was returning to face the mirror directly, I hypothosised that I would not see anything; however, I was wrong. I saw my general features, but stretched out exactly like Alfred E Newman from Mad Magazine.

Since then, one of my reality tests is to look down at either my feet or hands. If I'm dreaming, they're are always similarly distorted.

      mirrors

i dream of looking in mirrors fairly often, especially recently. and, yes, the image is always distorted in some way. once half my face was all swollen and bloated. another time my skin was blue. in yet another dream my hair was much, much longer than it actually is. come to think of it i should really start recognizing this as a dream sign. as of yet, i've only achieved one lucid dream. it was a few weeks ago and haven't been able to have another yet.

I had one LD right before I was going to get my hair cut short, and I was unsure if it would look good or not. so I knew I was dreaming, and decided to cut my hair. it....didn't work too well let's just say...um..like if I would blink, I'd see reflection blink seconds later, there was a delay. You know what I mean? and one other time I looked at my reflection in on a cooler, like a big drink cooler. I looked like my little sister X_X

      dont think so, but maybe

i'm not sure it's a girl thing - looking into mirrors. i actually read that it's quite uncommon for people to see themselves in mirrors period. but that was just one person's assessment. the difficult thing about researching dreams is all the conflicting information.

      mirror

I read on one lucid dream website to look into a mirror and try to pass through it. When I passed through it what was infront of it was behind it.

I read the same internet thing about passing though a mirror. That same article said that most people see themselves as distorted. When I looked in a mirror (I've only done it once) I looked exactly the same except when I smiled my image didn't smile as much and it was delayed like yours paperdoll. Also, when I frowned, my image didn't change at all, I looked expressionless.

When I look at my hands they look wavy and psychadellic.

Last night i was dreaming. I found my self at some girls apartment. I was fully lucid and remembered to look at a mirror. I walked down the hall from the living area and turned left into a bathroom. Sure enough it was a mirror. And there i was clear as day. At first my face was normal it looked just like me in a mirror in a wake state. I then started to smile and change my face. The image in the mirror changed at a slower rate then i was moving then started to distort and look not so clear. I didnt find the mirror very exciting.

I didnt remember to try and walk through it maybe next time.

I was more interested in having sex with the girl.

      Holy Cow!

I treid this last night...I too was distorted. I took the opportunity to do a reality check. I too was going down a hallway and past a large square mirror mounted to the wall. The fist time I looked at myself, I looked like a freaked out Whitney Houston...my hair a sticking up and wrangled. My skin color was changing from dark purple to a dark green color. I looked away and then back again (my reality check...it really freaked me out), and I saw myself for split second then the image started melting as being eatin by acid. By the way, I also tried to walk through it and couldn't. I stretched like metalic rubber. I couldn't break through. Has this happened to anyone else? I still can't believe I only read this idea about mirrors yesterday was able to remember it when I was dreaming last night.

I have tried only to walk through walls not mirrors. I have failed as well as suceeded, while lucid. I found that when you are confident and know its possible then you will slip right through the wall. If you test it and have any doubts you will find yourself trying to push through the wall LIKE A physical being and cant. I have not mastered any cool things like walking trhough walls or turning invisible but have had many experiences doing it.

I will try a mirrror when i get a chance.

A mirror, like all glass in my dreams, feels like water when I pass through it. When I look in a dream mirror I usually just see a transparent, shapeless form.

Looking at your appearance through a mirror is one thing, but have any of you frequent lucid dreamers seen yourself from a second point of view, as if looking at yourself from someone elses eyes? If yes, what happened?

I'v seen myself in second person point of veiw in (at one point) possibly all (3) of my lucid dreams. I think it mostly only happens in low-level lucidity.

High level lucidity is when you have high control over your dream and at all times (depends on how high) you will be aware that you are dreaming. For example, in one of my dreams I kept on telling someone that it was all a dream, except that I couldn't do almost anything (that's more of a low level lucidity.

At low level lucidity you might not be able to fly or do a lot of things. Also, at certain points you forget that everything is a dream and that all you have to do is wish that you can do something. For example, in my first lucid dream, my senses weren't working, almost everything was impulse decision or I didn't even choose to do it, and everything was gray and I woke up very fast.

That's just a slight description; not very good. I'm sure someone will tell you better.

I've had that happen many times. It's like you're watching yourself doing thing. A sense of self from a third person point of view if you will. I assume it's common. I think it's the same as when your dream characters change, but a lot less common.

Nearly all my dreams are in third person. I've started to think it has something to do with all the pot I smoke.

last night i smoked a lot with a friend, ive been smoking more often now, maybe this post should be in the other thread, but when i smoke i find i either have a lot more dreams or i just rememeber them better. kind of wierd, but the last to times i slept after smoking i had some wonderful dreams, and about 1 minute after waking up they some how pop back in there. you know how when you dream but you dont know your had a dream until maybe hours into your day, wierd.

I must be the only one in this forum who has never smoked and never will. ...all the lucid dreamers I've met in the past were potheads. why. in another forum I ditched for that reason, all they said was weed this and weed that. this forum is not near as bad but still...what is up with that.

there is a difference between a pot-head and the occasional pot-smoker.
