      Someone help :(

I'm hoping someone can help me? last night i had a terrifying dream. It was more so this morning, my boyfriend got up early to go to work and i said bye then i led there for about 5 minutes, and even though i cant remember it, i must have fallen asleep. At this point, even though it was getting light outside, the room went completely black, and i was led in my bed, everything looked the same, but then i started uncontrolabely spinning, i can't really make out whether or not it if it was me that was spinning, or the room, or the bed but i'm almost certain it was me/my head. anyway i was spinning and i was slowly rising up and there was a piece of plastic under my head, even though i was led facing the ceiling i suddenly had a quick side angle of what was happening and just remember seeing plastic under my head, i think i was slightly hovering above my bed and i could slightly lift my head, i was trying all i could to shout for help as whilst i was spinning i could swear i could see a woman standing really close to be but it was blurred where i was spinning so fast, i was crying and screaming but nothing would come out.. then i remember my words were finally able to come out i was saying oh my god oh my god and i was able to speak and then i woke up.. It wasn't nice, it felt like someone was going to hurt me, i was really scared and in my dream i remember thinking that i was going to die, this dream only lasted for a few minutes (i think) it seemed to be very quick. Please someone help me with this? xx

      Hi,

You might want to look into and read a little about hypnagogic/hypnopompic hallucinations and sleep paralysis, if you don't already know what they are. It's hard to tell for sure without more information whether that's what you experienced, or if the whole thing was a dream, but the way that you don't remember falling asleep and that the room looked the same indicates that you might not have actually fully fallen asleep, but stayed aware whilst falling asleep. To begin with, all three are normal, and though not everyone experiences these things, it certainly doesn't mean you're going crazy or anything. Many people experience them sometime in their lives, and certainly many people here have. It can be really scary and unpleasant at first when you don't know what's going on, but learning about it helps a lot, and it's even possible to turn occurrences like this into lucid dreams where you realise that you're dreaming and have control Have you ever experienced a lucid dream before? And, in this case, did you realise that you were dreaming, or did you think it was all real?

Seeing your boyfriend in the corner and then him fading away sounds like a hypnopompic hallucination. Again, it's not anything to worry about; in a sense, yes, it is "seeing things", as is dreaming. Sometimes it's possible to wake up during this transition from sleeping/dreaming to being awake and still see/hear/sense things as though in a dream (but integrated into the environment around you, as you've partially woken up) but these do fade as you fully wake up.

Thank-you for your help! i have never experienced anything like this before especially lucid dreams, i'm not quite sure what a lucid dream is? i have read about it but didn't quite understand it? I'm sure it's nothing just probably really freaked out by it, so hopefully it doesn't happen again, it just seemed so real i can't remember falling asleep which is what scared me the most but i obviously did to have dreamt it. thanks again you have been a great help xxx

It sounds like what happened to me. Before I knew anything about lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis, or astral projection, this stuff seemed like real nightmares taking place right in my bedroom. I would sense an evil presence and feel extreme terror and I couldn't wake myself up. I can't recall ever seeing a person or a being, but I sensed it. Or really dark shadows and evil lurking behind it.

I have no experienced the spinning sensation you did though.

But I'm with Vasiona, what you experienced is probably the "scary stuff" people talk about when consciously entering sleep paralysis. This is a GOOD SIGN for you though because you have experienced the state where out of body experiences can start.

Next time it happens, try to stay calm and witness the sensations without judging them or trying to resist. When I did this for the first time after having "night terrors" for years, the fear disappeared immediately! And suddenly I began floating out of my body. This was before I knew what OBEs were and what got me interested in this stuff in the first place.

So you are on the right track. The thing to notice is that your fear manifests itself in what you see in your dreams. William Buhlman, one of the best writers on out of body experiences talks about this and says that's were most "alien abduction" stories come from.

Good luck on your next experience!
