This one was my first and only lucid dream, and I had it about 2 months ago. It's the reason I got interested in the subject and eventually came here. (very nice place btw.) anways: I was with my parents and two or three dogs (i have a cat in real life, but no dogs) and we were on the edge of the grand canyon. There was a lot of stuff everywhere around us, boxes and the like. (it vaguely reminded me of a fleamarket) I looked at my parents and they didn't look quite right, with some of their features a little different than I remembered, so I tried to talk to them. They didn't respond or move so I went over to the edge of the canyon and looked down. when I looked back they were all gone and only the empty market remained. It occured to me that people don't just vanish, and I realized I must be dreaming. This is where It gets wierd: I knew it was a dream so I tried to control it a little bit. (this was before I knew any of the great tips on this site) eventually I managed to hover a few feet off the ground. Then I decided to fly out over the canyon and look down. as soon as I was a few yards (meters, for all the metric people) out I was overcome by a massive wave of nausia and a great fear of heights. (This was particularly troubling, because I have no such fear in real life, and I in fact enjoy looking down from high places.) Then I plumeted for about a mile straight down and couldn't regain control of the flight even though I still knew It was a dream. When I hit the ground I didn't wake up right away, but instead laid there in agony for a few seconds. when I did wake up, I was still safely in bed, not on the floor, but I had tremendous muscle pain for a few minutes. I welcome all analyzations, opinions, and ideas. thanks for reading my (rather long) description of my dream. |
