I must be one of the lucky ones :)

First some background about me. I'm a 20 year old Finnish male, with no previous experience in the field of lucid dreaming. I've read the site and know how to practice for lucid dreams to happen; but i've never practiced it. This morning, I was lucky enough to experience such a vivid dream without extensive practice...

I woke to my alarmclock, but I convinced myself that i wouldn't bother going to school at all, so I went back to sleep. I usually regret this kind of laziness the morning, but today i've been more energetic than ever, and i don't regret my little beauty sleep . Something very unexpected and extrordinary occurred in my dream... I realized that it was a dream!

In my dream i'm out in the Finnish Archipelago going for a swim with scuba-gear. The water is supposedly kilometers deep, and I want to swim to the very bottom. I jump in, and I notice how dark it becomes the deeper i go, and I become afraid of the cold and darkness. But suddenly I notice that there are man-made structures in the deep, so to my amusement I go and investigate them further. After entering i notice that the air inside is breathable, and i'm completely in awe.

After walking around in creppy corridors i suddenly end up in a neat library. I speak to the librarian: "What the hell is going on here, this is the most amazing thing i've ever witnessed! The improbability of me finding this place is just beyond comprehension". The clerk responded: "Oh people sometimes find it while they are scuba diving."

My dream becomes hazier after this. I meet some of the militaristic residents in the underwater complex and familiarize myself with their strange transportation systems. We move around with great speeds, through all kinds of delapidated tubes. My pulse is raging, as I have an imminent feeling of disaster in the crummy transports.

At some point I meet my brother and we start discussing how amazing this place is, and how it is possible that people in general don't know about it. What amazes me, is that my brother doesn't seem to be too exited about the place. Then I say "How the hell can you not be completely in awe? This isn't a movie, this is VERY REAL!". My brother responds: "When we get home, let's watch that lord of the rings movie; it's better than this."

This is the point where I suddenly realize that something is out of order. The reactions of my brother are just implausible. I think to myself: "Maybe this is a dream after all... it is does indeed have all the characteristics of a dream". I remember the concept of lucid dreaming, and I know that I must test whether it is a dream or not.

To the surprise of the local residents in the underground complex; I determingly walk up to the nearest pot of water and stick my head in the water and take a deep breath; as if trying to drown myself. I get frightened by the feeling of water entering my lungs, so I immediately pull up my head back above the surface. But stunningly, there is no water in my lungs, even though i felt my breath being full of water.

Hence, this must be a dream.

That feeling of realization was one of the greatest feelings of accomplishment i've ever felt. The first thing I do is to test whether I can take control of the dream. I levitate. And it does work! I fly high up into the sky and after a while I let gravity take control and I plunge into the shoreline water below. The feeling of absolute power is unimaginable. Simply by thinking it; I teleport myself back to dry land, where i decide that : "I wanna have some lucid sex!"

After it was certain that I was gonna get laid, I must have lost control of the dream. I believe I got distracted by all the girls! So I never actually get to the good part; instead the girls father shows up and puts an abrupt stop to my ingenious plan . And at the same time, I start awakening from the dream.

My lucid dream was indeed a wonderful experience, and maybe i'll even get laid next time

You know, the reason most people Test things to see if they are dreaming is because they don't know if they are.... Where did you come up with the idea to see if you were dreaming by trying to drown yourself?

I started suspecting that I was dreaming, but I couldn't be sure until I had tested it. I suppose i got the idea for breathing underwater from this site, or from some other lucid dreaming site. I've read about lucid dreaming, but i've never practiced dream-diaries or any other kind of active effort.

Well for future refrence, if you want to test if your dreaming... theres plenty of less-riskier ways to tell if your dreaming, like plugging your nose and trying to breathe out of it...I wouldn't try the "Lets see if I can kill myself" test.Knowing my luck, I wouldn't be dreaming...

I wasn't actually trying to kill myself, i was just gonna take a few breaths of water

But I suppose that breathing underwater isn't a very smart thing to try if you are gonna practice dream-testing daytime

Just remember to be hypercritical of your reality. You can easily get sidetracked by virtually anything
