I really need an answer :P

      Hi everyone!

This is my first post here, and hopefully not the last one ;D

I want to know if I had a lucid dream last night. Im sure I did, but still I have some doubts, mainly because I dont remember alot of it, which is strange because I usually remember my dreams very well.

Anyway, first off, I want to give some background information on what I've been doing to get lucid dreams and also what I think might have triggered it.

I started about 4 days ago. Started doing realitychecks during the day, sleeping for 6 hours - waking up - done something for 1 hour and gone back to sleep and kept a dream diary. The thing is, I have always remembered my dreams rather well, so I was positive that I'd get results soon, but not this soon.

This is the evening before i went to sleep and got the dream, and the dream itself:

24:00 (Midnight): I decide, before I want to go to sleep to read something. School just started 2 weeks ago and I needed to read somestuff for class. As I had read and was going to turn of the light I realized that I had forgotten when class started tomorrow. So I jump out of bed and look at my calander and see I have only one class on mondays, and its rather late, 16:15 (4.15PM). Then I do my relaxing rutine and soon fall asleep.

6 hours later at around 07:00 (7AM) my alarm wakes me. I wake up, do my biddings and hang out on my computer for about 40-50 minutes and then go back to sleep.

      The usuall dreaming starts:

First of, Im dreaming normally (this will be most of the time). Im walking to school. Its not my current school, but my elementary school which is very close to where I live. But still, im heading for my art history class. Anyways, I go into the building and into one of the rooms I had studied in when I was a child. This was Art philosophy class but I senced that the time was 14:00 (2PM). <---

*Note* above I said I had class at 16:00(4PM)**.

Then when we have a coffeebrake I go out of the classroom and into the classroom next door. There was a teacher and he held a sword, and this room was used for swordfighting and teaching We had a moment there were we fought abit and stuff, but after that I said, wait a sec. this class isent part of the artology department is it ? The teacher says that it is. So I take out my school calander and point out to him, that at this time... 16:00(4PM)! I am supposed to be at art philosophy in the next room. (Ok at first I dont sence the time difference). Anyway, I walk out of the schoolbuilding and head home.
On my way home I see the police chasing some cars in a highspeeeeee......

What the $#&&... ART PHILOSPHY STARTS AT 16:00 NOT 14:00 AND WHAT THE... THATS NOT MY SCHOOL, THATS MY OLD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.... IM DREAMING

(this is one of the parts which I think I might have been lucid)

As soon as I realize that I am dreaming I apear floating in a room with no floor. Its all white but begins to get grayer as you look down. Im saying to myself; "THIS IS AMAZING" I NEED TO WAKE UP AND CALL BALDVIN AND TELL HIM ABOUT THIS" (Baldvin is a friend of mine which also wants to lucid, but still hasent tried to yet). Now I think, what should I try ? One of the things I had NOT looked forward to when I started lucid dreaming was getting the sensation of falling if I would start flying. So the first thing I do is.... drop.
I get the sensation but very quickly start to stop it and I float again to a steady position.

-- Now here comes the blank --

This blank shoulnt be there if I was luciding, or should it. I remember glimpses of things I did, like moving my hands very fast and trying to feel if my sleeping body would do so to. I remember trying to kiss Lindsay Lohan (Yes... erm... who woulnt) but it didnt work. These things I THINK I remember but im not 100% sure.

-- Not to continue with the dream I had after the blackout --

Now my theory for this part of my dream is that, if I was lucid dreaming, I was going in and out of consciousness (from reagular dreaming to lucid and so forth).
      The dream starts this way:

I wake up. I say to myself, DAMN I JUST LUCID DREAMED. Haha But then I look at my hand and its all covered in blood. Then I look at my nighttable and a part of it is broken. Obviusly when I was moving my hands while lucid dreaming had broken the table. Silly me... but wait. This bloods kind'a strange. Its bubbly and strange. I say to myself... "Wait... Im not still dreaming am I ?"... So I stand up and walk to the wall. I had read on some page 2 days earlier that one of the reality checks could involve you puching your hand against a wall, and i you were dreaming maybe it would go though it.
I try once, didnt work. I try again and WOW My hand when 4-5 cm into the jelly like wall. I turn my hand a bit and take a big fist of "wall" out and throw it on the floor. Im kinda glad but I get the slight sensation of not being able to wake up at all.

After this reality check I still want to go wash my hand and take the classfragments out of it. (If I had been 100% lucid, should I have cared about it ?)

I go to the bathroom and see a bag full of golfclubs. They weren't mine and I wondered who owned them. Then I hear my dad on the topfloor doing something, so I take the bag up and ask him who owns it. He says a boy named "Halldór" owns it (which was in my elementary school when I was there).
      * I remember thinking at this time, this is a dream, Halldór dosent own these club at all *

I go back to the bathroom, and as I am entering I hear my little sister running up the stairs, I look up and see a girl with the same figure but dark hair. I say to myself; "Thats not Sara, thats somebody else" and at that point I thought the dream was "playing" with me. So I called her name twice to see her face but she didnt answer and went on up to the top floor. I was sure that this was a dream now and as I went into the bathroom I started doing other reality checks, moved two books with mindcontrole

Anyways, the last part is me still wanting to get my hand fixed.

      ---

Thats it. What I find strange is that in the first part, where I think I was really lucid dreaming, I have blanks and I rally have a hard time remembering the actual fellings. (I remember the floating sensation and the falling sensation, but really nothing more).

In the second part I feel it is rather strange that I wanted to fix my hand through the whole dream... why didnt I just wish it away ?

I hope you people can help me

      Thanks,
      Guðlaugur

Sounds like you were lucid to me. Maybe not a really high level of lucidity, but for me at least, those dreams are rare. It's usually a struggle to remember what I wanted to do while lucid. Usually my recall for lucid dreams is excellent, but I've just gone through a several month-long dry spell, and finally had a lucid dream 2 nights ago -- but my recall of the dream is not very good. It happens.

So I'd say you are achieving excellent results, and they are bound to get better as you do it more, as long as you stick with it and have confidence in your abilities. Way to go!

Sounds to me as well like you reached a level of lucidity.

Recall is not guaranteed, so that's not an effective gauge. If you're certain you realized you were dreaming - that's the first "level" of lucidity. That's one of the reasons that learning effective dream recall is so stressed in most lucidity 'programs'. From there it's all in control.

      Congrats!!!

I've had lucid dreams before that are really hard to recall. You can certainly become lucid, and not remember everything you did, so don't worry about that. That's normal.

As for the waking up part with the bloody hands, that was just a false awakening. Tricky little occurances that can really mess with your head, but once you realize you didn't really awake it's back to lucid land

Also, as for wanting to clean up your hand. That's completely normal too. It's tough at first to learn that everything around you really isn't real. I mean, if you were awake, it would be your first instinct to want to clean up your hand. While dreaming, you will also have the same instincts until you can convince yourself otherwise.

My philosophy is that anytime you even think you might have been lucid dreaming, just assume you were. That way it might have a kind of placebo effect and convince you that its really easy to become lucid, thus you WILL become lucid easily! Its all in the wrist! or... mind. You know what they say: "Whether you think you can do it, or you think you can't, you're right."
Its not just smart - its a machine.

I agree. I think there is a complete difference from when you are asleep to when you are awake and determining your current state. The difference being, that when you are awake, it is very easy to tell if you are awake. On the other hand, when you are dreaming, it is very difficult to dismiss completely irrelevant and strange things as being not real.

"Whether you think you can do it, or you think you can't, you're right." is an awesome way to think of things!
