A brief glimpse at lucid dreaming.

Well I finally had my first lucid dream tonight and I have to say it was quite an interesting experience even if it did only last a few seconds.

In my dream I had just gotten out of the shower and got dressed. I suddenly had the feeling I was late for something so I look and there is an alarm clock on the bathroom counter only I can't read the first two digits. I left the bathroom and go to the living room where my roommate and his girlfriend are discussing whether or not he should go to work. I find out its 11pm which is apparently acceptable so I walk back into the bathroom where I notice that the toilet is overflowing. I'm not really sure what to do, so I look around for something to fix it or clean up or whatever and when I look back not only is it not overflowing its actually bone dry. At this point I notice its dark in the room so I went to turn the light, I had this weird sensation that I can't really describe, like something isn't right. I try to turn on the light and nothing happens and it reminds me to do a reality check. Now this is the strangest part for me. I realize I'm dreaming and all of a sudden I feel as though I'm being sucked through a hole thousands of miles away into my dream body and when I hit my body I stumble back. I gain my composure and walk to a window in my bathroom to look out but all I can see is my reflection and then I woke up.

So it didn't last long but I have to say it was quite an experience, hopefully one that begins to happen more often...and for longer periods of time.

      w00t!

      Congratulations on your first LD!

Have a go at spinning round to retain lucidity, in my last LD (second one ever) i remembered to spin around when things started to 'fade'. And it worked! although in the end i think i wasn't concentrating enough because my dream changed back to a normal dream. But still the vividness is amazing, i can recall feeling the wind through my hair while running down a hill, and the background sounds of birds and water when i was beside a swimming pool. The only thing different that i can remeber doing that night to acheive lucidity (and i'm not sure if this is meant to help or hinder...) was being slightly drunk I'll have to experiment and see whether this is a common factor in LD's to come...

Gratz on your first LD and many happy dreams for the future

Hmm..I'll have to try that next time. This time I really didn't have a whole lot of time to do anything because when I finally realized I was dreaming it ended fairly quickly. I had a bunch of dreams last night though and they are all extremely vivid and even now I can remeber them quite clearly.

I've been only remembering one dream per night for about a week, which is the amount of time i've kept my dream journal for. Until last night - i can remember 5 dreams! and they were all quite vivid too. Strange coincidence that it happened to both of us on the same night

Maybe it's something to do with talking about it on this site.....who knows?

      Many vivid dreams to yall,

      Glor
