      Success!

I did it! This was a long dream so please forgive the length of the post.

I was dreaming that I was standing in my room next to my bed and suddenly I knew I was dreaming. No dreamsigns, nothing out of place, I just knew. To double check I chose to grab the doorknob in my room and squeeze to see if anything odd would happen. As I squeezed, the knob became pliable and oozed between my fingers. Assured that I was dreaming I set about doing some tasks.

The first thing I thought of was to try a lucid task from September, break a mirror and look into it. In my house we used to keep a cheap door mirror against the wall that has since been moved to the garage. (It was present in my dream though.) As I looked at it I thought it was too flimsy to be easily broken so I looked for another one. I turned to the left and found a mirror mounted on the wall. I struck it with both my palms and it cracked into two spider web-like patterns. I looked into it and saw two reflections of myself. One was facing me and smiling. He was younger and thinner and did not copy my movements. The other was standing sideways to me showing only a profile. He was dressed in a hip-hop dance style and wearing a bandana on his head. He was also dancing, doing the wave or robot with his arms. Now I have danced in the past but never hip-hop, and I would never dress in that fashion. I t was odd. But, mission accomplished even if two months late!

Having completed one task and still lucid I decided to leave the house. In real life both my wife and child were napping and they were still napping in my dream, so my first impulse to crash through the window was tempered by my desire not to wake my dream family up. Instead I floated through the (closed)window silently! Now I am outside a beautiful, clean city floating around on my back about ten feet off the ground.

My next goal was to receive a gift. I have read that gifts from dream characters are often extrordinary so I had to find out. The first character I saw wasa little girl playing on the sidewalk. She was dark skinned, had black hair and was facing away from me. I shouted "Exuse me?" I was ignored. I shouted again with more urgency "Exuse me?" this time she turned around and saw me floating there. She was very cute and had that expresion of deep contemplation children sometimes get. I told her that this was my dream and I needed a gift, was there anything she could give me? Her expression never changed and she did not speak but she did approach me and put something into my hand. It was an invisible box wrapped in an invisible bow.

As I held the box in the palm of one hand I untied the bow with my two other hands! Inside, among some invisible tissue paper, was a little plastic hair clip. (The kind that come dozens in a pack and are shaped like flowers and animals.) Not two, but one. I was surprized at how mundane and useless the gift was but for some reason I felt I could not ask for another. Two tasks down and one to go!

The last task I tried to do was this month's: Fly to the sun and retrieve a piece of it. It started out pretty good, I saw the sun and took of flying toward it. I soon realized that even though the city was stretching far behind me, the sun was not getting any nearer. Three times I tried but was unable to get close. Once, on the way up, I found myself averting my eyes so as not to be harmed by the sun. Then I remembered it was a dream and looked right at it with no problem. Anyway, as I became more and more convinced I would not reach the sun I tried to grab a piece from within Earth's lower atmosphere. I stretched my arm out, reached with all my will to grab it, and succeeded only in turning the sun into a basket ball covered with art and graffiti! With that, I returned to my room still lucid!

      One last sequence:
I find myself back in my room with my wife still sleeping. My little girl comes into the room and for some reason I decide to toss her into the air. Normally, I have to toss her low so as not to hit the ceiling. This time I figure it is a dream so I can just toss her right through the roof. Wrong! I toss her up and she clunks her head on the ceiling and comes down laughing. I try again with the same result. So I put her down and I jump up to check the consistancy of the ceiling. I jump up and grab it with my hand. It is like sticking your hand into a thick oatmeal but it suppots my weight well enough for me to dangle from it. I do this two or three times and suddenly wake up.

Thats it my friends, the longest, most well controlled lucid dream I have had yet. If you want to know what I did to attain this dream please check my related post in Attaining Lucidity.
Thanks for listening and please do respond if you can.
