Thread: first LD Experience last night

I was dreaming about the X-Man Nightcrawler and a car, it was in that church where Kurt Wagner lives. I remember the dream, but my lucidity was interfered by my friend John who walked in and woke me up right before I became Lucid.

I came to a point in my dream when I did a reality check, and only then did I realize through my reality check that I was in fact awake, so is this good, bad, normal or anti-lucidity???

Well no, it's OK to become lucid off a reality check. That's perfectly normal for any beginner. I never got lucid any other way as far as I remember (I'm a beginner myself). The more experience you gain the more you will notice that you become lucid without having to do additional checks because you will feel at home with the LD-feeling. Some people get lucid out of nowhere, some do reality checks for no real reason, others see peculiar things and realize they're dreaming after double checking with an RC like the hand or nose one. I wouldn't really care too much as long as you're getting the LDs at all.

Its not the first lucid dream I've ever had, its just the first lucid dream I've ever had knowing what lucidity was. I have had a couple of lucidic dreams in my life time but only now since joining this site do I know how to control them. I always thought my ability to know I was dreaming in a dream was just part of my dream waking me up, but now that I know lucidity is actually possible I can learn to control my dreams instead of only being able to wake myself up.

I'm going to try again tonight and hope I get further.
