I FINALLY got a LD! It was a weird trigger though.

After 2 weeks here and keeping a journal and trying various techniques to no prevail, I woke up this morning at about 6:45 and figured I might as well try a WBTB. However, I was too lazy so I started one but just stopped b/c I was too tired.

When I fell asleep, I was with 2 friends of mine. One of those friends thinks what I'm doing is very stupid and that it is sad that I keep a dream journal. Of course I expect this from his personality but we're still friends.

So ANYWAY, I'm at an apartment complex with my 2 friends and my friend who I was talking about in the last paragraph (Will), was talking to my other friend (Rohan) about how he thinks it is so stupid that I'm into lucid dreaming and keeping a dream journal. I hear this and I'm say to myself, "WAIT A MINUTE!!! This could be a dream!" I do a reality check and I do this out loud b/c I'm excited of the probable outcome of it. I look at a bunch of buildings by me with clocks on them and turn my head away and then back and they are different times.

At this point I actually say out loud "HOLY SHIT! MY FIRST LUCID DREAM!" and I look at Will when I say this and I notice the dream to slowly fade away, so I do the spinning technique and it works! I said to Will that I'm going to ask him on Monday if he remembers anything about this on Monday in school (I knew the chances were that he wouldn't). I ran into the street and tried to fly because I've been waiting to try it forever. I fail but when I fall back down after jumping, time slows down and I don't know why it happened but it was one of those "NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo!!!!!!!!!........" types of moments. When I saw this after I hit the ground, I decided to try and speed up time and I did it. When I got back up and put time back to normal, I remembered the flying FAQ on this site and it said to simply imagine yourself hovering. I closed my eyes and did this. I could feel my feet tremble a little but in about 10 seconds, I found myself with my eyes still closed but awake.

So basically, my trigger for the lucid dream was my friend saying LDing is stupid. LOL!

Sorry if it was a bit lengthy but I'm sort of happy so I just typed as much as I could.
Wait!! .......Am I dreaming right now?

Congratulations! That is a strange trigger, but hey, whatever works... A cool experience, I'd say.

Congrats, man. A textbook first lucid dream.
Good job on the control and remembering the flying FAQ.
Start thinking now about how you're going to handle flying next time you have one, and devising a plan for manuevering through the air. That way it won't feel so foreign to you, the next time you try.

Keep up the good work. Your skeptical friends don't know what they're missing.
