      lucid when i was young.

Ive allways thought of myself as special, when i was young around 10-12 yrs of age i use to have lucid dreaming alot, it was the greatest thing, I remember how i could controll my dreams, and the good feeling i had knowing that in my dream i knew i was dreaming, it was fantastic, then during one dream that was lucid i remember some bad people were chaseing me, so i ran to the ocean and went into the water to swim away from them, then in the water i saw shark fins, but i knew i was dreaming so in the dream i told my self do not worry they can not hurt you, then the sharks started biteing me and it hurt, and i have not been able to have a lucid dream since i would sure like to find why, and would appreciate any of your thoughts.wayne Im 43 now.

Were the shark bites disturbing to you after you awoke? If so, the simplest explanation would be that you stopped wanting to have lucid dreams.

Since you appear to be a natural lucid dreamer, at least when you were young, I would expect that you should have success with one of more of the various induction techniques discussed elsewhere in theses forums.

Yeah thanks for the reply, yeah it was pretty troublesome after i awoke, its the onley dream ive ever had where i acturally felt pain, when the sharks were biteing me, figure as a child probably just was scared to have any more lucid dreams so i stoped, will look into more, and hopefully i can get over that mental block.wayne

I think people often make the mistake of thinking that it's not possible to feel pain in a dream. Just the other night I got punched in the face, and when I woke up half a minute later, I could still feel the remnants of the blow...Of course, at the point it was just a memory of pain instead of pain itself...But man, that guy must've broken my jaw.
