      Lost it again!!!

Well since I've began my "training" I guess you could call it I've had two lucid dreams of which I can remember. In the first I attained lucidity for about 10 seconds and than lost it, and in the second it was only for about 5... I know I need practice but I just was wondering, how long do most people go before being able to stay lucid?
      Woooo~ I'm hyper!

It probably shouldn't take you too long to get a lucid where you don't wake up immediately. Just remember to stay calm as you realize you're dreaming, and remember to have patience. assuming you're not about to die for whatever reason, you should have plenty of nights ahead of you to practice. Don't give up even if it takes longer than you expected, because everyone succeeds eventually.

Also try doing the usual things to prolong your dreams, like spinning or rubbing your hands together. If you can remember to do this as soon as you gain lucidity, you'll have a much better chance of staying lucid. Just start rubbing your hands together furiously the next time you turn lucid and concentrate on the sensation of movement. It works for me. ^.^

You need a Lucid Dream Checklist. Apparently you realize you are dreaming only to allow yourself to continue into the same Dream Action that was carrying you along to begin with. You need to Stop... pull back from the Dream Action. And then you need to focus a second on your Lucidity.

Here... let me past over what I had written previously on Lucid Dream Checklists:

Years ago I had a Dream Checklist that was easy to remember -- S F L A (I would remember San Francisco Los Angeles) it stood for STOP FOCUS LOTUS AUM. Stop means to stop the ordinary Dream Scene action. One can't really begin a Checklist until one stops what one was doing beforehand. One must think that as important as the Ordinary Dream may have been, that this Lucid Occassion calls for some higher Priorities, that is, this very checklist and the items on it. Focus is a moment to intensify one's Lucidity. Traditionally, now, people often take a moment to look at one's hands. Often they appear distorted. Oddly, in my last Lucid Dream the air around my hands became like black space and I saw my hands as translucent webs... small webs... not with five fingers but only three coming from the wrist, like a Cross with the finger-beams joined by a web of skin. They seemed more like antennas then hands.

Lotus is the reminder that the Lotus Position avails the best flying and levitating. And AUM is the most powerful of Mantras and if anything could take one to the next level, it is entoning or chanting the AUM.

Does ''lost it'' refer to slipping away and no longer being lucid, but keeping dreaming?
Or does it refer to awakening.

I think that most take like, an average of 4 lucid dreams, to become ''extended lucid''.

What apparently helped for me, was when I talked to friend of mine with which I run a special ''secret'' project on lucid dreaming.
What I did was talk to them about lucid dreaming (just casually) and then I suddenly realized something and set my ''priorities'' before I went to bed.
I'm not sure how or what or why but apparently when I set new high priorities to do (when I DID become lucid) it helped me actually become lucid.

It suddenly went like: (in my dream).... wait a minute I still have to do this (The priorities I set), and then I realized I was dreaming

So setting priorities before sleep might help.
