Weird effects from dream drug use

I had a dream where I took some MDMA. Now, I've never used MDMA before, but the effects I felt in the dream have to be significantly different from the real life effects. At first I guess I felt kind of stoned, but then it was as if all of my senses disappeared, and I felt really happy. I was just floating around. My feet weren't moving or anything. I don't really know how to describe the sensation; I've never felt anything like it before in my life. Then, I went with my friend, who had taken some hallucinogen, and sat on the front porch. There was this old man sitting there who looked kind of weird, and I realized I could stick my hand through him. I could also see my parents inside talking, so I told everyone to be quiet. When I tried to stick my hand inside, however, I hit a wall. At this point, I was aware that I was hallucinating, but I had no idea I was dreaming. Unfortunately, shortly after I woke up.

Drugs such as Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, aka. ecstacy 2)have a significant impact on dopamine receptors within the brain. Also, the organ within the brain that produces dopamine (the nucleus accumbens) also influcences the hippcompal region which is responsible for memory (primarily). Because of this, your consciousness will become very sporadic and may seem to make no sense at all. Note that the dopamine reception is what creates the euphoric reaction. I'd explain more, but I have to go. Hope this was remotely enlightening.

Also i believe that the use of MDMA can detur your cognitive funtioning and hinder the organ that produces dopamine. Your brain no longer produces on its own.

MDMA is primarily serotonergic in effect. It has lesser effects on norephinephrine and dopamine levels, but they're not what account for the euphoria. MDMA also doesn't stop your brain from producing dopamine. Methamphetamine does. There was a study suggesting MDMA caused major damage to dopaminergic neruons, but this study was later retracted when the researcher discovered that the MDMA used was actually Meth. MDMA does cause nasty things like serotonin receptor downregulation and creation of hydrogen peroxide (same shit as you use to dye your hair) which proceeds to destroy brain cells, but that's kind of irrelevant here anyway. I doubt doing drugs in a dream could in any way harm your brain. The actual things that happened in my dream are almost certainly completely unrelated to the effects of MDMA, seeing as I've never used it in real life, and it doesn't make you hallucinate. It's just what I dreamt I took. To me, it seems to suggest a breakdown of my dream reality...I discovered that I had no bodily sensation (true, since I was in sleep paralysis), and that I wasn't really seeing what I thought I saw (since I was dreaming). I wonder whether one could induce the same sensations at will in a lucid dream.

Cant you pretend to take a drug such as the one above to heighten your senses within the dream world? I remember once upon a time within a dream, smoking a joint, the feeling was amazing, when the realisation came that I was actually dreaming. I could smoke it and feel the effects of heightened awareness, far beyond that of reality. Also pretending to take drugs while dreaming, you don’t feel the side effects or addiction.

Yes, you most definitely can experience drug effects in dreams. Many times I've gotten baked in a dream, a few times I've eaten mushrooms. Just a few nights ago, I had a dream I did a line of cocaine (something I've only done in RL once, 3 years ago), and I felt GREAT. Also, Terrence McKenna talked a lot about how after you've smoked DMT once, you will have dreams where you smoke and you have that experience at its fullest. Not sure about the original topic though, experiencing drugs you've never tried. But then, I was just blabbing in another thread about tasting alien fruits with their own distinct taste, so maybe there's something to it - tapping into the collective unconsciousness and feeling what others have experienced in RL?

The Start Me and my band bought a big bag of magic mushrooms since i payed 40 bucks i got a quarter of an ounce. I wish now that someone told me how power full the particular mushrooms were. I ate my quarter and all my band ate their 8th. To the neiboor hood park we went after this. We enjoyed some music for a fair amount of time. And got this one drunk girl to drive me and my band to our destination.... TO THE MUSIC ROOM. AS she was driving us my stomach began to hurt much more than is usually did when i ate mushrooms. I knew I was gona trip hard but not as hard as i did. Well we were taking bong hits before we had a jam..... we went to the music room and i played the keyboard that time. That was the last thing i remebered in this state of mind. From what my band told me after we played music i took one more bong hit then laid down. the weird thing about this dream i had was my body was concious but my mind was some wheere completly differnt. I was active walking around but i was dreaming....... a very dangerous combonation.. thank god my band was there to keep me from killing myslef or somthing ..hehe The Dream well this dream world is was in was just like the real world exept i felt totally helpless and was scared of everything.... In the dream me and my band were walking around my neiboorhood tripping. when ever i saw a car head light i ran with all my might. Its very hard to describe the felling i got when i saw a car drive by in my dream.... i guess i could describe it as panic. I forgot about the real world while i was in my own. in this dream my friends were just as panicy as me. most of the dream is hazzy i wish it wasnt.... The After Math well slowly i began to awaken... i was sitting on my friends stairs with piss soak pants ( hehehehe yes i pissed myself) i have a vague memeroy of pissing my self but since my mind was wandering through the neiborhood i was help less. I saw a light coming around the corner... it was my friends mom with a flashlight. She had a calming voice and convenced me to get up. At this point i still thought i was dreaming .. i was so glad because this dream was so real and was lucid ( of course this was real life and i wasnt dreaming but since my mind was scrambled i thought i was dreaming) My friends mom was so nice she gave me water and ginger snaps. I began to ask her many questions. She answered all of them. I began to bore of this place so i got up and told her i was leaving. She gave me one of her son's shirt and help me find my shoes and i left. I began to wander though the streets in search for something to do. I found my long llost friends and they told me what happned. The told me i pissed my self and grabbed steavies mom's ( the lady who gave me water and cookies) tits. I still didnt belive this was real so i picked up a rock and threw it at a house.... which broke a window. this didnt convence me of the real world. It took 2 more hours for me to relize i was never gona wake up becasue it was all real that was the second biggest trip i have ever had... My Experence This dream changed me. Made me feel true helplessness and panic. a feeling i have never so strongly felt untill that night. I ended up wandering throught the streets for hours by myself thinking about what had happend. in the morning i went to my house very depressed for reasons un known. for days i was depressed for some reason took my about a week to return to normal[/b]

They aren't ringing any MDMA bells for me, though it's been a long time. Every time I have a dream where drugs are present, I wake up before I get to use them. Every damn time. It's one of my signs. I've only managed to drink in one or two dreams, and never a signifigant amount.

I have never taken "magical" mushrooms before and did once in a dream. I realized to close my eyes in the dream and saw some of the most vivid HI ever. But overall it sucked becasue my mom decided to come and trying to act straight sucked.

Last night I took my first hit from a vaporizer... but it was in my dream. It was pretty awesome, instead of smoke coming from the piece, it was just moist steam. Felt great on the lungs. I was stoned for about a minute in dream time, then I woke up. Heh, cool.

I had a non-lucid dream where I was on a huge field, where someone was burning marijuana. I got affected by the smoke from the marijuana, and I felt weird. It's really hard to describe, but everything felt funny. This is because I think this is the way that drug would affect me, so my mind worked like that for a while.
