Er, just had a very very weird experience. SCARY!

Ok, well I was attempting mild this morning heres what shook out. It still freaks me out just thinking about it. But at the same time I think its hilarious how are minds can do this to us.

Ok so I was dreaming me and my friend were sitting around a table with these two girls, we were making a smoothy. It didnt go on for to long, we talked. That was about it.

Ok scary part. I woke up, (not really sure if I was awake or not). I looked at my far wall, it was covered with little planks and stuff. I was unsure if I was dreaming, but there was the question in my mind. I was to tired to do anything, so I closed my eyes again. Immediately this HUGE* gravitational pull started to rock me back and forth. I dont know if I was paralyzed, but at this point I just knew I was dreaming, or in a false awakening or something. I didnt try to move, I just wanted to ride the wave and see what shook out with this rocking sensation. After about 10 seconds it elevated to such a crazy sensation its hard to describe. It felt like I was lying on a skateboard, going up and down a half pipe. I still didnt try to move, but only let this gravitational pull whip me around. I thought it was pretty fun! It was more instense then any roller coaster I had ever been on. At that point it really sunk in that I was probably dreaming, or in a false awakening. I became 100 percent aware. I opened my eyes to get up, still rocking back and forth with even greater intensity. There my wall, was still covered in planks. I rocked to one side, and looked at the wall next to my bed, I then was rocked to the other side. At this point I was starting to get annoyed, I wanted to get up and make something of this. Quickly that annoyance turned to a deep, deep, horrible fear. I was rocked to the other side of my bed, there was a figure in a black robe, standing over my bed. All I saw was the side of his body, he was calling my name, "Chrrrisss" In a hissy kind of whispy voice. I was so freaked out at this point. I was now able to control my body, I could of looked up at his face, but hell, I didnt want to. I turned over in my bed at covered myself in my blanket. I closed my eyes and told myself to keep calm, and none of this was real. I opened them and I was awake, staring at the bottem of my blanket, in the same position I had ended the dream in. I did an RC, and concluded I really was awake, but didnt want to get up until about a half an hour later. Now that I was at full consiousness I had a good laugh, excited and intruiged by this experience, but still undetermined if it was an FA or LD, or just some bad sleep paralysis.

      What does everyone think?

That's kind of crazy - I'm glad you enjoyed the wild ride, though, at least until Death or whatever that dark figure was supposed to represent showed up. The boundary between sleeping and waking is very nebulous, so it's difficult to tell where HI ends and dream begins. Also, you can have lucid FA's, btw, so that may have been what you experienced.

I had an experience similar to yours this past summer when some sort of malicious demon-figure came through the ceiling of my room directly above my bed and rushed towards me. I don't know whether I was naturally coming out of sleep at that point and the figure was some sort of boundary imagery (although it was fairly early in the night) or whether it was part of a dream I was experiencing and I woke myself up, but my room appeared as it does in waking reality. In any case, it scared the shit out of me and I threw myself off of the bed to avoid being hit, only to land on legs that were still in full SP. My left knee collapsed into the metal handle on my dresser and swelled such that I couldn't walk on it for several days. I don't think that I particularly laughed about that one, but my friends certainly got a kick out of the fact that I busted my knee just trying to escape a dream. If I had hit my head instead of my knee, I probably would have gotten a Darwin Award for that one.

It was probably a post-dream hallucination. I have read about them, and I had one once. Even when you are awake and perceiving the waking world, your dream faculties can still be functioning to some extent. The result is bizarre hallucinations.

(I'm sorry to whoever is tired of my telling this story. I just keep coming across situations where I have to clear up issues with it.) About a year and a half ago, I woke up from a dream and was lying on my couch. I am pretty positive I was awake because I almost never have an accurate understanding of what my waking world looks like when I am dreaming. I always have some faulty notion of things, especially where I live. What I saw looked exactly like my living room. Well, I was lying on my couch, fresh out of a dream, and a small, stuffed giraffe was nibbling on my toes. I even felt it. I was still experiencing dream paralysis, so I could not pop the thing on the nose and make him quit. I went back to sleep right then and had a WILD which happened to be what I rank in my top five lucid dreams of all time.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

Sounds like a crazy nightmare/LD. I've never heard of anything like this before, and I've heard some crazy stuff. I don't know what advice to give, really. It just seems like a strange nightmare.

Seems like a fairly obvious case of FA -----> SP, from what you said, although the 'rollercoaster' seems rather unsusual. The 'figure' is a common theme in SP and i've had it too once, very freaky while it's happening, but laughable once you're out of it.

whoa, trippy heh, i'd probably chill in bed for abit as well after something like that..

if it happened to me i'd classify it as a false awakening where i was on the verge of waking up. one can feel the SP, or have it integrated into the lucid/FA, as i have experienced a couple times.

the fact that you woke up in the same position you ended the dream suggests that your physical body's condition/position was an influence in your lucid dream.

i've had the rocking sensation too, though not as intense as yours sounds

One thing I get is I wake up to SP, then fall back asleep during the SP and have short, increadibly dreams which often include FA, for example dreaming that I'm doing the spinning around on the bed/levitating thing the girl in the exorcist does. One time I even dreamed that I had forced myself out of bed, to shake of the SP and was walking across the kitchen when I realised that a journey that should have taken a couple of steps was taking ages (battling paralysis all the way) then I woke up properly still right in the middle of SP, so it is definatly possible to have composites of SP, FA and LD.

Sounds like just a freaky dream. But weird that you looked in the same direction... maybe dreaming with your eyes open?

I had an experience quite similar to this some time ago.
I was sleeping over at my grandpa and grandma's house and suddenly woke up in the middle of the night hearing my mothers voice.

She said something to me, and i figured i was in some half awake-half sleeping stage or something so it didnt scare me much. Then, after she's done speaking it felt like i got pulled down to the edge of the bed. Like this really strong force just pulled me down and it was hard to decide wheter it actually happened or not.

I dont really know what to make of your experience or mine.
      hey

      God, that sounds crazy.

That makes me so scared now to even try it.

Don't be scared to try it. That is one person's experience. Even if you did have a bad one, it would seem unimportant next to all of the other awesome dreams you might have.

I agree, I would like to ask who it was, if it happens again and im not so scared.
I have to say, my first impression was that it was death, or the grim reaper or something.
