My First and Only Lucid Experience

This was quite a while ago. I'd say in the range of about two or three years.... It goes a little something like this:

It starts with me falling throught the roof of my school, and into my kitchen, which has a snow bank in it... One of my family members is standing in the corner, and I somehow became Lucid. I then walked over to the sink and said aloud "If this is a dream, I should be able to wake myself up." and then poured water on my self, but to no avail. I then walked into my living room, and thought, "Well, since this is a dream, I should be able to do whatever I want." I said aloud (Three times) "Gimme an M16". A HUGE FAT MAN tried doing it, but I told him it was my dream and then he started to cry.

I also have noticed that a lot of my dreams are containing Assault Rifles of some sorts. Usually P90's, M16s, or AR-15s. Why might this be so?

Well you could just like guns, and in your dream they seem accurate engough for you to know which is which. For me birds in my dream are accurate to tell which is which and even gender if I get a good enough look at them, and it's really easy for me to get lucid when I can tell that bird doesn't esticts. These guns could be your dream sigh sicne you pay attetion to them in real life, macth a reailty check to go with it and maybe if you notice something wroung with the gun you could go lucid easily.

Congrats on the LD! You obviously like assault rifles in real life, so it makes sense you would use them in your dreams. It was a good suggestion by justme to make them a dream sign to attain lucidity. And if you haven't already, you should start a dream journal. This would be an excellent dream to start off with - way to go!

That's interesting. I guess you were obviously lucid, but didn't have much control. I think it has to do with guns because one is obviously a big fan of guns, isn't one? Some people tend to dream about things they are deeply fascinated with.

To answer your question about dream signs, they are designed to be things you see in your dream that make you say "hey! I'm dreaming!" For example, if you have trouble running (a common problem), that could be a potential dream sign if it happens all the time. This link to a tutorial (step 2) may explain it better.

The point is to help you become lucid. Do you have any reoccuring dream scenarios or characters?
