      Was this a true FA?

hey guys! Obviously i'm very new here and so i don't know that much about lucid dreaming. I was wondering if this experience i had was an FA.

The dream began as me looking down on a girl sleeping in bed. She had lots of yellow dots flying around her head. Her room didn't have a roof on and was in the middle of a field. I was looking verticaly down on her about 10 meters in the air. Her room and the surrounding area seemed a little animated. It was obvious i was in a dream so i looked around for a while. Suddenly i awoke in my bed. I thought the dream was over but then when i looked to my window i saw the dummy of the goosebumbs episode" Night of the living dummy three". He looked at me a shouted "Get down. get down!" in a kind of robotic voice that sounded very scarey. Then i actually woke up.

      hey,
Yeah, that sounds like an FA. If you get in to the habit of performing RC's as soon as you wake up you can quite easily become lucid in them.
      Are you dreaming or awake?

ok thanks for that guys. Also i wouldn't really want to stay in that dream with a scary dummy guy. I'd much rather control a dream that either starts nice or neutral. For example i dreamt i was in my bedroom. When i opened the door the house was very dark and i heard weird noises. Obviously if i went downstairs it would have turned into a nightmare so i decided to jump out the window and do something else.lol

The beauty of lucid dreaming is that you can alter the events that happen in your dreams, you know that everything around you isn't real, so there would be no need to be scared of a 'dummy guy' or dark environments. Once you learn to control and overcome your fears the possibilities are endless.
I'll give you an example of a scary dream I had in which I became Lucid:
In the dream I was convinced I was sleep walking, nothing looked real and I had no control over my body. I managed to drag myself down the stairs of my house. everything was dark and I could hear myself trying to yell out. I got downstairs and could see a dark figure out of the corner of my eyes, I was terrified. The figure walked up to me and began screaming in my ear, I was paralysed with fear. I then realised that the reson these events were occuring was because I was in fact dreaming. I immediately turned the events around, I was still a little scared but I forced myself to start laughing, before long I was laughing for real, and I turned to the figure, which then took the form of my house mate, I laughed and told "you can't scare me now because I know it's a dream... you nearly had me though" I stood up, now with full control of my body and continued with an amazing LD.

P.S. An LD will only turn into a nightmare if you expect it to.

Ubik pretty much covered it all. You had undoubtedly a FA or false awakening. Take Ubik's advice and you could very well find yourself lucid next time.
