Thread: Oh wow! So this is Lucidity!!??

I'm not sure where to start, I am so excited!! After 3 nights of going to bed with a purpose to become lucid, I not only achieved my goal of becoming lucid on purpose for the first time, but I accomplished more than I thought I could at once!
It is odd, but my LD occurred during a False Awakening. There were a few FAs in this dream. I became lucid by holding my nose and breathing in. When my lungs filled, I knew I was dreaming!! I was so excited. The first thing I did was attempt to fly, which I did. I have flown in dreams before, this this was different! I flew like Superman! And I was telling other people that we were dreaming, and I was having them pinch their noses and breathe!
What a great feeling! I feel like I just won an award for something amazing. I literally put my hands over my head and silently cheered for myself after I woke up.

The dream is lengthy and may be hard to follow as there are FAs and attempts at a WILD while dreaming, but I try to explain it well. Please read it, as I am so excited and I want people to share that excitement. I told my mom, and she was like, "Do you have my credit card?", so not a whole lot of love there.

What I believe helped was the following:
I gave my subconscious a name, and used it a lot last night.
I got up this morning for about 2.5 hours before going back to bed, the whole time reading on this forum.
Doing the ol' "pinch your nose and breathe" RC a few times before going to bed.

Yes, I was awake for 2.5 hours, well up and about for 2.5 hours. I was actually AWAKE from 6:00 to 7:15 before I got up. Almost 10:00am I went back to bed.

Congrats on the LD! It's an amazing feeling, isn't it? Keep up the great work!

GRRRRRR how the hell did you fly so easily and quickly! Ive been trying for ages to do it in a LD (doen it in a normal dream, really cool but doesnt last long)! im such a NOOOOB !

I have been flying in dreams for as long as I can remember, but to stay in the air, I had to, get this, DOGGY PADDLE. I suppose since the closest thing to flying is swimming, my mind had that barrier. When I was lucid, at first I just floated. Then I reassured myself that I could do better, and I just put my arms out in front of me and flew.
Next time you're lucid, don't try to fly. Turn into Peter Pan. That should take care of it.

I just had one last night pretty much the same way. I woke up at about 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. Then at about 5am I was wide awake, so I -ed my boyfriend, got some water, and FINALLY fell asleep around 7am, and I had a lucid. I sometimes attain lucidity from FAs too, so good job there as well.
