Only 3 days here, and my FIRST LD!

Well, my first Ld started off with a semi nightmare. it started with em and my mom, near the back end of our house, near one of the doors. i can't rememebr what i was talkign to her about, but soon after she suddenly screamed in fear, for someone has came through our back door. he was in a black coat, couldn't see him. next thing i nkow he had a knife against my neck, and my mom coudln't bear to watch. he slit my throat very quick, but it felt like a papercut. soon after i thoight i was dead i woke up and said "hey.... im not dead! its just a dream!" so, i walked out the back door laughing at the guy as he stared at me with his knife in his left hand. i jumped over my deck, landed on the ground, makign an attempt to change backround to a beach. *coudln't know how to... ant tips?* then i saw a friend from my school on my porch/deck, i waved to him then jumped and landed on our fence with one foot, turned around and waved, then jumped into the air with my one foot, and started to fly! it felt amazing! only problem was i didn't know how to fly in different directions, only up. so i was stumped there. i saw my house, and my neighbors house, which seemed very small from how high i was. i figured since i didn't
know how to fly in diff directions there was no where else to go but up. i flew up into the air, seeing many strange images. i just kept flying until i burst out of my bed with amazement. i did my reality check, and i went back to sleep. can someone tell me how to change senery? it wouldn't tell me on tuturials...

In a lucid dream, if you dissolve all doubt and accept that since it is a dream, you can do anything, your abilities will follow. Don't even think about possibly being unsuccessful; the fact that you didn't attempt to change your direction because you felt that you wouldn't have the ability to do so is what held you back from accomplishing it. The same goes for creating scenery and rearranging story events. Simply mess around with things and you'll be surprised at what you can do. That's how I personally learned how to change my surroundings, as well as how I acquired all of my other lucid dreaming skills.
      I can because I know I can.

CONGRATULATIONS!. I had a few LD's since joining but I didn't have any recall of 3 of them, just remember having LD's, one happened while I was waking up, so I didn't have a chance to do anything, and didn't use the right dream saving techniques anyways. My last one was last night, but it was really low level, and was like a ten second thing where I knew I was dreaming, but I wasn't lucid enough to actually do anything, there wasn't any scenery at all, it was so unvivid.

I agree with LunarMoon, if you believe in yourself, you can do ANYTHING, but if you don't believe you can do it you can't. Something you could try is shortcut methods, like buy/steal/just make appear a flying carpet, and fly on it, or take flying pills (it sounds corny, but I heard it works). Also, don't fly too high until you're more experience, as from what I understand, when you go to high, you don't have enough scenery/surroundings, just clouds (or something like that), and you lose the dream. Changing scenery is a pretty high level of lucidity, but a trick that is often recommended is spinning, and thinking of going to another scenery. Or try thinking something like, "when I exit this building I will be on a hawaiian beach (or wherever you want to be)". And definitely check out the tutorials (I think there's a dream flying one, too). Hope this helps.
