      Why?

Although I've lucid-dreamt a lot, I have still never found out WHY we have Lucid experiences. I know now that people sometimes 'teach' others to dream this way, but what causes Lucid experiences when it comes naturally? Is it because Lucid dreamers have more control-power than others? Why exactly do we have Lucid experiences?

Would appreciate it if someone would let me know. Thanks. :-)
Apathy is a lovely escape route.

The uninstructed Dream Self is something of a primitive persona, given to violence and promiscuous sex. Not very civilized at all. And the Dreams are not entirely coherent, are they?

What Lucid Dreaming does is it helps to integrate the Waking Self -- the Civilized Moral day by day Person -- with the Primitive Dream Persona. Lucid Dreams are a Civilizing influence.

Now, of course access to Dreaming also helps the Waking Self, but before any of this help can be made available the Dream Persona has to be brought to order.

So in other words, I think, both the onscious and unconscious mind is awake simutaneously.

Hm, so the brain emits beta waves while both awake and in the REM phase. Does the brain emit different brainwaves while lucid than it does when in normal sleep? Does the Beta waves come from more areas of the brain while lucid?

I think you may be right about natural lucid dreamers having more control-power than those who aren't naturally lucid dreamers. If they have more control-power in waking life, that could transfer over to their dreams, causing them to be able to LD more often than not.

I hope that made sense, lol.

By "control power", are you referring to will power in waking life, or control over others and your surroundings?

natural lucid dreamers just have less of their consciousness shutdown when their in REM. thus they notice when they're in a dream more easily than other people

Control-power meaning more of a tendancy to want to take control of things in waking life. But I think Billybob's explanation makes a lot more sense than mine, lol.
