My Dad Had A Lucid Dream!

Haaaaah. Uh. Lemme start at the beginning. I'm really new to lucid dreaming myself, and I've only had a few short LDs in the weeks since I've learned about them. But I've been discussing them with my dad, because we get along ridiculously well and I tell him everything, even if I feel silly about it. Well, he told me that he became lucid for a few seconds in a dream last night. He said he dreamt he was levitating, and was so proud he floated out into the living room to show my mom and I. He realized we couldn't see him, though, so he decided he'd go flying outside, since he was apparently invisible. At this point, he became lucid, but woke up after only a few seconds from excitement. Dad said it was incredibly realistic and vivid. So now I've shared it with my family *laugh*. I'm glad I don't have to worry that he'll think I'm crazy when I talk about it anymore, at least ;D

Very nice~ I dont think any of my close friends have experienced the joy of lucidity for themselves. Heh, my first lucid dream resulted in my flying immediately, and of course waking from the excitement as well.

sweeeet, yeah people generally look at you like you're completely out of your Mind when you tell them about Lucid Dreams Good thing your dad has experienced one himself, he'll understand you much better now. I've been trying to influence my mother's Dreams. She Sleeps VERY VERY deep so it is unlikely my voice would wake her up. I tried Telling her ''You are Dreaming'' ''Do you know you're Dreaming now?''and ''It's All Just a Dream'' while she was asleep... But this usually was around 2 o'clock nighttime. I might try it again around 4:30 because maybe then it WILL have effect since it is the last stage and LIGHTEST stage of her sleep where her awareness is already comming back slowly.

That is cool, your dad is lucky, maybe he'll have a lot of lucid dreams now? I found that after my first I had a few (i've had two dry spells though, the last one i'm still in now). You might end up with your whole family lucid dreaming! It's good to have someone who lucid dreams as well though, you have something fun to talk about and can help each other with becoming lucid!

Your lucky they are being normal and rational about it. My Dad says he has had them and he thinks they are the devil. My Mom says she has them naturally all the time, no big deal, always has. No wonder they're not married.

Pretty cool stuff! I don't think either of my parents have ever lucid dreams. Anytime I try to talk to them about LD, they immediately switch over to interpretation. Seems they don't really get the concept or dont really care.

Yeah well in my idea Dreams are no ''real places'' but Experiences and experiences only...How we interpret that individually may differ dramatically. But Seeker, Show your Parents this Forum and they'll see how many people are having these Lucid Dreams. It helps convincing them it's real...also Luid Dreamng has been Scientifically proven to be true. I know that all those who think I'm bloody mad or something (To some extend they're right though ) with these Lucid Dreams, Wait untill they have a really neat one themselves...they'll understand what I am so enthusiastic about right away Now I have several friends, 1 in particulair, who believe me and are very Interrested in Lucid Dreams so I might do some experimenting with a friend of mine who I'll have sleep over. I meditate with him too sometimes so he seems like the right person to try Lucids together with.

My dad's pretty awesome, all things considered. He jokingly said he almost didn't want another experience like that again, because he wouldn't want to wake up. My mom, when I first told her about it, thought it was weird, but I think she's getting used to the idea now. She told me very seriously this morning that she doesn't want me having any out of body experiences, though, after hearing stories about possession and such. I had to assure her it wasn't the same thing X3;;

Yeah, I've mentioned it to my Mom, but I can talk about it like it's normal. I mean, lucid dreaming isn't that weird, you're just practicing the ability to realize it when you're dreaming.

lol i told my mom about a a dream i had where i got shot in the head.... she freaked out
