I had a lucid dream last night. And just like this post, it was short.

I remember looking at my hands and seeing something strange. They were really elongated and had less fingers. Then I said "Gasp! I'm dreaming! I'd better do something before I--" I suddenly woke up "--wake up..."

One thing I noticed during those 3 seconds was that I didn't feel as hazy as I am in non-lucid dreams.

Yeah... the traditional excited yourself awake type phenomena. Nevertheless, you succeeded so congratulations! Try to get it in your head to take it slow. I have had 5 lucid dreams, of those 4 were less than 1 minute long each because I got in a rush. The long one (10 minutes) was because I was very set and focused on taking it slow. I gotta get that in my brain again... Last night I had a lucid dream where I pretty much decided to jump out of a moving car (through the roof) and go where I wanted to be. Problem is, I forgot to decide where I wanted to be... hehe I jumped through the roof into blackness... and woke up. Woops.

I've done something similar, I saw the image of clouds and mountains in the rear view mirror of a car, and decided to travel through it as a mode of transport into the clouds, but when I went into it there was nothing, only haze and blackness, and I started to awake so I went back out of the mirror and continued the dream for another 10 minutes or so.

Congrats on the LD, SC! The important part is that you were lucid - nevermind how long it lasted. With practice, you'll be able to maintain lucidity for longer periods. There are a lot of threads about maintaining lucidity, and different methods people us to do it - use the Search function and see what you come up with.

Anyway, way to go, and keep up the good work!

      Congratulations !
I remember my first lucid dream was similar.
I woke up because of the excitement.

But hey, now you know that your capable of doing it, and with more practice and experience you'll be able to keep'em for longer
<div align="center">"Could we but mould our dreams at will,
And keep them free from harm or ill,
      How pleasant it would be,
To deem our waking hours but dreams,
And that, our life which now but seems
      A baseless fantasy."
