I had my first real ld last night, and woke up laughing. (This is not a dj entry, just a commentary on some of the fun.)

I did an rc for no apparent reason, flipping a light switch in a big empty hall. Just like in the movie Waking Life, I stood there dumbfounded that the rc failed. And this is the one rc that I never do, because everyone else would see it. But I guess I do pay attention when I have to flip a light switch anyway, and maybe I was just switching the light off as I left the room in what was going to be a regular dream. I just stood there, flipped the switch a few times, and laughed at the fact I was actually in an ld.

I searched through some empty rooms, and finally found a room full of people to start playing with. I won't bore anyone with all the details, but I just ran around playing with everyone. I kept doing rc's, because the dream seemed to go on a long time. The first time I looked at my hand and saw only three fingers, I cracked up, and was so happy. I always thought that would be scary, but it was just funny because I knew what it meant. It was interesting that the rc's were not consistent; sometimes I had 3 fingers, sometimes 7, sometimes 5. One time a light switch worked, I got disappointed the dream was over, then I saw my 7 fingers. Once I had 5 fingers, was disappointed, then saw my watch was flickering.

In the last part of the dream, I found one of my former students, and dragged her and two other people outside to play with the dreamworld. We decided to try to fly, so we picked out a building to jump on top of. One of us went first, and he jumped about 100' up, no problem. I think this was a dream guide, because he did it without a word, then sat up on the building calmly and patiently. A kid went next, hit the building 15' up, and fell down. I said don't worry, ran and jumped 20' up, hit the building, and slid down to the sidewalk. It was funny - it felt like a shock to hit the ground, but didn't hurt. Then I noticed the kids were getting grainy, and there were three copies of one of them (I told him so), and it faded and I woke up.

So damn funny, and fun, to actually find myself in the dream world.

I did think to myself at one point, after numerous scene changes in the dream, that it might be scary to not find a way out of the dream and back to waking life. I found that scenes would go black, and I'd try to open my eyes. Once I did and thought I was opening my eyes for real, so I shut them. Then I found that new scenes would open in front of me, without trying to open my eyes. They weren't false awakenings, I didn't think I was awake each time, they really were just scene changes.
