i have only been lucid dreaming for about 3 weeks and i have progressed rapidly, so i wanted to see if i could kill myself in my dream. I created a senario in wich i was chased by a gang. i told myself to stop and i did. i let them shoot me. When i died, in my dream my spirit of my body was released. It viewed the rest of the dream just now i wasn't in it. it was the first time i remember that i wasn't in my dream for any period of time. amazing!!! i did what i thought was impossible!!!

anyone else able to do it and if so what happened?

I've heard people doing this before. People experience different deaths though.

That's cool that youv'e only be doing it for 3 weeks, and you can acheive this.

This is a different way of doing it... to leave one's dead body. Perhaps that is the correct way, but ordinarily if you can stay in the dream for approximately 20 seconds without waking up, then the 'dead' body comes back to life. So perhaps you abandoned your body a bit too soon.

But, then again, if you don't mind just being a point of consciousness, then there is no loss. But without a Body, we know longer have Agency... we can no longer Act... no longer assert our volition on the course of events.

It will take me a long time to feel comfortable with dying in my dreams..

      Congratulations; I suppose?

I never killed myself in my dreams... I once did re-enact a scence from 'leathal weapon' where mel gibson is putting a gun to his head, but doesn't shoot.

I didn't want to die in my dream. I guess I am not a total nutcase

It seems when i die in my dream i just "occupy" the body of the person nearest to me.
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

How did you feel when you awoke?

According to Paul Tholey a psychologist at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University who has studied lucid dreaming and the affects of confrontation and conflict with in them if one doesn't stand up for himself. He reported that those within dreams who ran away from the confrontation and didn't attempt reconciliation woke up with feelings of discouragement, anxiety, fear or even guilt.

But thats not to say those who responded with violence and destruction were any better off, they reported the a sense of euphoria mixed with fear or guilt. He reccomended self-defense or conquering the enemy but not to the point of killing.

But I asked because I don't think this scenario really fit either one because in the researched cases figures usually appeared of their own accord. You actually summoned them. So what emotions did you feel when they killed you?

That's why if I were Lucid in a Nightmare with Creeps after me wanting to kill me I would just turn around smile and do a funny dance with them. Murder and Revenge is not my Dreaming Mind's type of Imagination. It's got more of a Miraculous and Comical nature.

If you were Truely Lucid in a Nightmare you would KNOW that there's no reason to fear or run. It's all but a Dream. Your Dream. If you want to do a funny Dance with your DreamCharacter Creeps chasing you...you just can by doing it. It's like playing with your own Mind in a Creative way.

If only my DreamRecall would become better again I will also try to allow myself to get killed in a Lucid Dream. I won't try doing it myself like suicide, because you never know when the Line between Reality and ImaginaiReality becomes to thin and too hazy. Safer thing to do is to conjure up some Heavily armored Cops in armor suits, helmets and gasmasks. Carrying heavy duty Machine guns AND shotguns. (Inspiration from an actual Dream I had not too long ago) I'll let THEM shoot me. Such a thing is MUCH less likely to be able to be happening in Waking Life.

That is interesting... if its just a dream there shoudnt really be any guilt or fear though yeah. Like maybe alittle but the euphoria sounds like it might be worth the risk..

Its just some of my most major highs in lucid dreams have been from.. murder I guess you would say. Like once I dreamt that I caught two guys trying to break into my house. I went lucid and so I shifted into a vampire, and after lifting the first guy up by his neck with my teeth, I dropped him from about 10 meters up.. then I landed and did like a speed run to the next guy who was working on the front door lock. Anyway I pulled out that guys heart by just pushing my hand through his chest and ripping it out. I took a bite and showed it to him because it was a thing to try.. and I really was a nasty vampire. lol
Anyway point being that it was one of the best highs and was just very empowering. If I had just told them to go away I wouldnt of felt as... cool the next day. I mean I ripped out his heart! How often does one get to say they've done that. Which is why I did it, and it did bring a kinda euphoric feeling which I still kinda get from just remembering the dream again. Kinda.

Don't you think if you died, and you left your body and you were just a reference point in your dream, you are still in control, so you could... in essence create a way for you to come back into your dream?

i woke up and quite frankly felt a sense of accomplishment
i felt great that i did it

and fyi after i died i lost my lucidity but it really didn't matter because after i died i only continued to dream for another minute or so

my body didn't regenerate because i was following the gang after i died and they ran away down the street

It takes courage kinda hey. So well done. I shot myself in the head once. I was sitting on this wall and I just thought I would try it because I was holding a gun for some reason. After I pulled the trigger I was still just sitting there but I was all misty like a ghost and I woke up soon after. It was scary but its a leap of faith almost. Other times I've jumped infront of speeding cars and stuff but it didnt do the same effect. That was more of a bug on the windscreen kinda effect.
