I had my first lucid on my first night trying lucid dreaming. I was very excited about trying this. I had done some research on it a long time ago but never comitted myself like I am now.

I was mainly focused on recalling my dreams and keeping a journal to start. I was not expecting a lucid my first night.

According to my journal I had 5 dreams overall that night, I was able to wake up after each one and write it down. The last dream of the night I was on a plane and by a stroke of luck, I had a reality check. So while the plane landed I held on to the dream trying not to get too excited. We landed and got off in the middle of the runway. It was snowing. So I tried to conjure a snowmobile but it never came. I tried a couple other things, I can't remember what, but I think I just enjoyed being conscious in a dream until I woke up. The whole thing only lasted about 2 minutes dream time. It was a great motivator and can't wait for more.

Since then, I haven't had a lucid, I'm 3 weeks in. Just started trying techniques as I have my recall down. Also need to work on my reality checks since that's how I got my first lucid.
      I sleep to dream.

Congradulations on being lucid in a dream!

What a strange place to become lucid though. Do you by any chance remember looking out a window? and what triggered your reality check?

You probably don't realize how lucky you are with that dream. Most people who LD just wake up immediatly during their first. As for the three week gap, it's perfectly normal, you just need to be patient before LDs will come again. If though, you find that you can't get an LD and you've been trying really hard, use the noninduction technique. It releases your built up suggestions and what not and you will usually get an LD on the first night. It's very good to get you out of a dry spell too.
      Nice work!

I can't remember what brought about the reality check, I just asked myself, can I be here? The only problem is, I haven't been able to reality check within a dream since then.

towarm = I tried the non-induction, it helped, I'll post in another forum about it.

      Nice one, Adepticus! Congrats!

You know what I've found helpful for control during LDs - a magic wand. Seriously, I think it has something to do with me not thinking I can change things, but the wand is kind of an extension of myself so it's easier to control things through it. When I become lucid and I want to conjure something or change something, I reach into my pocket and the wand is there. Try it!

Congratulations, Adepticus, that's supercool! Also, really well done for keeping calm enough to stay in the dream. Not an easy one to pull off first time round...
