I've been reading this forum a lot and it seems like so many people are having Lucid dreams. I've had one but it wasn't intentional.

I'm wondering how long did it take you to achieve a lucid dream? How long did it take on average to get one?

I had my first WILD one week after hearing about LDing. It was out of the blue, and the quality wasn't good, but it was my first. It took me another month and a half before I had my second LD, and I didn't have another WILD for a LONG time.

Check out my recent thread. I'd say less than 2 weeks and I had an all night lucid experience. Getting the word 'lucid' implanted in your brain seems to be key here.

I had my first two days after hearing about it. I was very determined to reemmber my dreams, wasn't really expecting a LD for A month at least, so I thought I'd focus on Recal first. Voila.

Took me about one week, if I remember correctly, to achieve my first. But then I was sort of obsessed with it, that must've been why it happened so fast. Second, third and fourth happened soon after. Then I was some time without having one (because I didn't bother with it -- final term exams are the perfect LD killers eh.). Now I have usually 2-3 per month if lucky, nothing to complain about

Exactly three weeks after discovering the site. It was a "plain old" DILD.

As far as effort, I didn't throw myself into it headfirst like some people do, but I did start a dream journal and diligently record all of my dreams during that period. I also practiced reality checking throughout the day, and tried WILD a small handful of times (failed every time - to this day I've still never completed a WILD).

about three weeks ago i had never heard of or even imagine of lucid dreaming. i found dreamviews from a link from another sight and signed up for the forums right away. after about a week or so of reading up on techniques and failing at them i got my first lucid dream. heres bascially how it went down:

i had basically had pretty bad dream call for most of my teen years due to, i'm guessing: stress. well after my first day of reading up on this stuff all night i had a dream. not a very vivid dream, but a dream none the less. it was pretty excited. so the next day i did the same thing. another dream, this time a little bit more clear. at this point i wasn't keeping a dream journal and still didn't until a day or two after my first lucid dream.

since i was going to school on the weekdays i couldn't wake up in the middle of the night, so i only had one attempt at a dream per day. during the day i kept doing reality check in no real order. i just did them as i thought of them (which was a lot). like i said before, after about a week or so i got my first lucid dream. it was pretty vivid and somewhat controled. it happened on the first day i actually woke myself in the middle of the night via alarm clock.

ive had 1 that was very limited, all I could control was what I did next, and I had to finish doing that before i chose the next thing !!

Took me a little over one week for my first moment of lucidity. I worked really hard and focused my entire existence that week on lucid dreaming. Took me about 2.5 weeks before I had what I call my first "real" lucid dream. I call it that because it was the first one longer than a minute and that I had any real control over.
