Hello hello and this is my first post..

Well...it happened like this...when i was about the age of 7
I experienced frequent nightmares of the "Living Dummy".
Until one night I believe my mind Got too fed up of it.
I was Lucid dreaming and i was in my Room when the
Living dummy Came out from under my bed.
I then realized he coud'nt be real so I just started Belting
out "Your not real!" and "I don't believe in you!".
The next part was pretty morbid because he started
diterializing on the spot until he was just a puddle of tan liquid.
after that I never had nightmares with him again.

I'm now 15 and about two months ago i was having a discussion about dreams
with my friend and he told me that if you die in the dream world you die in real life..
I'm just wondering if i could of killed a real thing.

Please leave your comments or if you've had a similar experience...

adn no, you coudl nto have possibly killed somethign in realy life by liquifying a dream dummy. that goes alogn wihtthe concept of shared dreaming. cool, but completely unreal.
*note*^ the above comment was not meant to be hurtful, nor insulting. It is just another of my cynnical observations of fact. If you happened to be offended by my logic, too bad.

Well, Sgt Pepper said it rather bluntly and in a not-so-nice way.
The fact is, the whole dying in dreams, dying in real life thing is a very old, very widespread urban legend. Placebo effect doesn't even enter the picture.
Dying in dreams is actually rather interesting--a lot of people do wake up before they die, but it's definitely not an "always" thing. I've had several dreams where I've died. Twice I went to a "heaven" of sorts, though once it was my next door neighbor's backyard (no idea why. I just died and woke up back there, and somebody was all, "welcome to heaven!"). A few times I was reincarnated after I died, and a few times it just faded to black, then faded into a new dream. The best are the ones where I experience some sort of afterlife, because they're always so radically different from what you'd expect.

EDIT: By the way, I didn't notice what you'd said earlier, but just so you know, the placebo effect is where you think you're getting better, so you actually do get better, or you think you're getting sick, so you actually do get sick. Basically it's where your mind tricks your body into believing something that isn't true, so it actually becomes a reality. Here's the wiki article on it.

yea, sorry for beeing so frank

well, teh placebo effect is in interesting thing

it is when your subconcious believes something that is happeneing to your body, whihc is actually not. for example, if youv ever heard of phantom pains with amputees(people who experiece sever pain in their wrists and dont have any arms for example)

another study was done with injured patients at a hospital

atients with similar injuries were told they were put on morphine when only half were, the rest were just water. all of them reported relief from pain. later, they were all told that they given morphine blocker, whcih they were.

all of them, including the ones wiht nothing but water beeing injected into them, reprted an increase inpain levels.

wierd

i ahve died in dreams before as well. i thnk the reason one wakes up when this hapens is becuase teh mind has no idea to comprehend what is happening.

Thats very Interesting, I've never died before in my dreams except for one time I just dreamed of what heaven might be like. None of my friends have ever died in they're dreams. Well my friend who told me that should be kinda suprised haha

there is no way anyone could know that if you die in your dreams then you die in real life because how would anyone know? how would anyone know what the person was dreaming at the time they died?

therefore, the myth that if you die in your dreams you die in real life is simply that. a myth

I've killed a lot of things in my dreams. I even recreate Mechwarrior scenarios in my dreams, and people tend to die in those...Oh! And the tank battles too! It's pretty fun. Like Halo, but with better graphics and no spawn campers.

Yep, I've killed in a dream. It is no more murder than shooting a character in a game, all it is is electronic circuits producing an image of death. (Or in the brain's case, electronic and chemical signals, but to the same ends.)

Is it all you want it to be?"

Yeah. I had recurring nightmares with the same character (but different scenarios) for 5-7 years, multiple times a week. Usually I'd just wake up as soon as I realised it was a dream (didn't even occur to me I could control a dream), but one time I just realised a way to kill it. Didn't come back once.

I actually went looking for the character in an LD last year, and got taken to a "dream manager" who told me they'd tried to find it, but it wasn't anywhere to be found. They put on a video for me to watch to explain why, but I lost lucidity and woke up shortly after .

I had a dream where i died yesterday from a gunman.
It was a neat experiance actually. I got shot in the head by an ak47 and it went slowmo, some of my sense cut out.
