Well i used to do a bit of self-hypnosis and tried it recently and could still reach a level or trance albeit not quite as deep as i used to be able to do and i've always wanted to experience lucid dreaming and have tried a few times before but failed.

I tired again a few nights ago and i was successful! basically took tips from the WILD technique and tried that whilst using self-hypnosis, seemed to have worked. Maybe a strange sleeping pattern also helped. Slept from 11pm until 2am, stayed awake until 3:30am and awoken from the lucid dream at 5am.

The dream:

Well i woke up still lying in bed, looked at my watch and realised i was late, i took a second look and the time was slightly different so i checked my phone to make sure and at this point i was wondering why my wake-up alarm never worked on the phone, looked at the display and it said "set change" (something it would never say) and some Instant Messenger type messages which i never read, weird. So i checked my watch again and panicked because it said 8:45am and i was to leave for work at 6am.. whoops.

So a bit confused i got up and looked out the blinds (something i'd do normally to see how light it is). I looked out and it was dark, my garden and all of the neighbours gardens were lit up with articifial light, like flood lights from a rugby ground, i never noticed anything and stopped looking out of the blinds then i thought to myself that was strange am i dreaming? so i looked out again and i realised the 'design' of each of the neighbours gardens were switched about but the gardens still had the proper shape; weird.. then i said i am dreaming, that's when i realised i was lucid.

Next thing i got excited i suppose and knowing about the 'spinning' procedure i tried it then fell on my backside against the far away wall looking at the wall with my doors on. The right-hand side of the room had my old wallpaper (recently decorated) which was fine; the left-hand side had most of the wallpaper stripped off but had the vibrant purple wallpaper i used to have underneath! and what looked like a secret door but i never had time to explore that as i sat there in my dream thinking to myself "so this is what's a lucid dream's like?"

So basically it was better than i could imagine, everything was so clear and sharp, colours were so vivid, i had the sense of touch, it was super! Everything was so logical and seemed like real-time speeds other than the fleeting glimpses you usually get in dreams.

As for what the dream meant i'm not sure. The only thing i can think of is the difference between the conscious and the sub-conscious mind. The gardens being the same shape and every design as it should be but all switched up; one side of the room being as it should (the conscious), and the wallpaper stripped away and showing the wallpaper underneath on the other side (showing the sub-conscious) and the secret door being the wormhole/gateway to anything imagineable!

Can't wait to have another!
