Wife Gets Lucid From My Efforts

I have been talking a lot to my about my some of my recent lucid dreams and some of the ways I have been trying to become lucid in hopes that she will get interested and eventualy start trying. Well, last night she was having a nightmare and became lucid in it but I guess she didnt gain control of the dream. I asked her why she didnt just change the dream and she just said she didnt know enough about lucid dreaming. I was going to explain it to her but then she said that the dream scared her and she hopes she never has another lucid dream again. I was wondering if any one has influenced someone else to accidently have a lucid dream like that. And if anyone has any ideas how to get someone interested who is frightened by LDing.

Well, I haven't had a lucid dream yet but I have talked a lot about it, but some of my family were already having LDs before anyway! About the second one, you could try explaining how a)She didn't have to be afraid as nothing can hurt you in a lucid dream (well, that's sorta true. If you have fear it will likely hurt. If you're not fearful you feel no pain. 'The only thing we have to fear is fear itself&#39 and that b)She could stop the nightmare from re-occurring (which it might if it wasn't faced), and finally c) It's just plain fun . Get her on this site, reading around a bit. I haven't had a nightmare since I started LDing, because the second anything becomes nightmarish I always become lucid, then I have extreme fun killing/maiming anything trying to harm me =D

I've had two interesting experiences with people I've told about lucid dreaming. One of them, my cousin who considers his extremely vivid dream recall a problem, had a lucid that night and had a blast with it. I don't think he's made an effort to continue though. Another guy became lucid within a couple days of me telling him about it and had the same reaction your wife did. I even bought him LaBerge's book, but he's completely turned off to it all now.

I told a random on the net.. over msn and kept syaing do a realty cheak now... to like an hour or to of talking... three days latter she goes oi i had a lucid dream.. it was boring lol and im like FOOL lol

So far I've told my brother and some friends. Here's the reactions, if anybody's interested My brother: He already knew about, as he was actually the one who told me about it, however, he wasn't really interested in it, since his dreams arren't that vivid. I haven't tried since then, to convince him, that lucid dreaming is really worth it. If I tell him "I had a lucid dream this night, it was great fun", he's just like "Whatever". A shame My friend, Mick: Mick got totally into it. He's a natural, and gets like 2 a month, and has been like that through most of his life. He's not really interested in increasing his lucid dreams, as he doesn't feel like putting the effort in it. However, he is one of the only persons that I really talk with about lucid dreaming. My classmate, Martin: First of he was like "Oh, that can't be true. Ah ah, impossible.", however, I enlightened him, and he started to believe, though he doesn't seem to be interested in it enough to try it himself. He loves to hear my experiences in dreams though. My friend, Daniel: He pretty much accepted it. He's not very as skeptical, as many others, so he just said "Yeah, it's pretty cool, but I don't think I can do it". I think it's okay. He'll eventually get lucid dreaming and then he'll ask me how to get more My friend, Peter: This is a special one. I was sitting in school, at the computers, and we were just surfing. I went onto DreamViews to read the forum, and then he asked "What's all that about?", so I told him the entire thing, about lucid dreaming, how it works, how you can induce them, what you can do in them and so on. He was totally blasted. He thought I was insane. I asked Mick for some help, so he told Peter about some reality checks and stuff he does in dreams. Peter's face was totally freaked out. I'm impressed actually. He's a very "spiritual" person, who isn't that skeptical. I don't think he believes it, or maybe he's just like "That's insane", but I am pretty sure he believes in its existence. "We fear what is unknown" My friend Jacob: The same as above, but not as skeptical though. I didn't get too much time, to put him into it though :s But funny enough, none of them have reported any lucid dreams or weird experiences when sleeping, like you have. Time will show I hope I didn't hi-jack your thread too much, I just felt like posting this

My partner thinks LD is totally retarded and a waste of time. I used to talk to him about it to try to get him to have one, so he would understand, but it hasn't worked. He has always denied even having dreams at all. I tell him it will be like having his own personal holodeck, that made him think for a minute, but then he went back to saying it is stupid. He has pretty much gotten used to it, but he says that I've really gotten flaky. Some quotes: "It sounds like you're making the Blair Witch Project" (when I record my dreams). "It's like a f***ing circus every night on your side of the bed" (referring to my vibrating devices, recorders, mp3 player, scented bandannas, etc.) "It's like going up the river in Apocalypse Now, things just keep getting stranger and stranger." (referring to my efforts to MILD by doing it out loud, which works better for me.) So...you should be glad your wife is somewhat open-minded to it. It would be nice to have someone to remind you to do RC's and such, and being able to talk about it a lot would help. She may be really good at it. Also, you could maybe whisper to each other at night and tell each other that you are dreaming now...
