This afternoon at 1:41 I started a nap. I woke up at ten after 2. The total time I was down was an hour and a half. At some point I fell asleep and became completely lucid. By completely I mean I was absolutely aware I was dreaming and was making most all decisions about what I did.

However The dreams were only someway clear. They were about midway between my most clear and least clear dreams. And I had about the same level of control.

This dream held a few first for me. All of my lucid dreams end with me thinking "oh well I am to awake now to continue dreaming" and I lose lucidity. Today I tried to test if this was a false awakening. Luckily it was. Each time (4 times) that I thought I was waking up I could sort of feel myself laying down. So I (in my mind) jumped up and headed for the kitchen. It worked three times. I jumped up and was right back in a dream.

Another first was that each time I went into my kitchen I attempted to walk through the wall to get outside. This worked twice. A couple times I couldn't do it and so I just opened the door.

I am really happy to have LD'ed and have made a couple firsts. But I thought that LD only happened in REM sleep. And I thought that REM sleep took hours to reach. Was I wrong about that or is there another explanation for having lucid dreams after as little as one hour?

Thanks for any information you might be able to help me with.
