Ok, I have been trying LDing for about a month. I was really keen for about two weeks, but nothing happened so I stopped trying as hard, it was always in my mind, but I stopped doing RL's and recording a dream journal. Well, so last night I went to sleep at about 1am, and then woke up at 5am and went for a surf. I got home again at about 8am, and was really tired so went back to bed and fell asleep. Now, from what I remember, I think I did a WILD, I'm not 100% sure, because I thought that I was still trying to fall asleep, and just did an RL for fun to see if I was dreaming, even though I thought in no wat could I be dreaming. So I pinched my nose and I could breathe through it perfectly fine. I couldn't beleive it! I was amazed, i'd never had an LD in my life, so I pinched my nose as hard as I possibly could and could still breathe through it! I was shocked and thought to myself OMG I'm dreaming!!!! What should I do? So I tried to open my eyes and remember someone saying to picture your room in your head before opening them, so I pictured my room, and then tried to open them slowly and saw my room. But it was to bright for my eyes so I closed them again. Then I either stopped dreaming, or forgot I was dreaming because that's where it ended.

I'm so excited now to get another one where hopefully I can try out some things!

Hey long jetty - I was wondering where you wandered off to! Glad you're back, and had an LD, no less! Nice job!

Where were you were you realized you were dreaming? Were you already in your room? I try not to close my eyes in an LD because it always results in me waking up or losing lucidity. Once I realize I'm dreaming, I lean up against a wall and take a few breaths to calm down. Then when I feel calm and stable enough, I'll pursue the activity of my choice!

But it's all about practice. You're experience with taking a break for a couple weeks is a good example about how trying too hard can be counterproductive. Just try to be more aware of things in general and don't overdo it.

Yeah, I've been overwhelmed with school assessments and tests. These are for my HSC course so I'm doing alot of study. So haven't had much time to do anything else. Well I’ve finished off 4 assessments and only got 2 to go, which aren’t due till the end of the year, so I’m starting to get some free time, but intend to finish them now, so I’m free. Anyway, when I was dreaming, I thought I was still trying to get to sleep in real life, so I was in my room lying on my bed. I instictively closed my eyes when I tried to open them because in real life, when I wake up, I open my eyes and my room is really bright from the sun, so I shut them and have trouble adjusting to the light, so this obvioously came through in my dream.

I thought it felt similar to a WILD, because I remember getting vey bright hypnotic imagery beforehand. And I thought I was still trying to get to sleep when I tried the RL. I'm not sure though, I could of just fallen asleep and then an hour later dreampt I was still falling asleep.

Also, not sure if this affected me having an LD or not, but lately I have just been drinking heaps, and heaps of tea.
